Plant as soon as possible after receiving.
I ordered two. They are in small pots with potting soil. Then wrapped in shrink wrap and shipped in a box with nice packing to protect the plants. I was very pleased with the packaging and shipping. I planted mine about 4 days ago. They still look perky so my fingers are crossed that they will do great.

Roots exposed!! Poor packaging
Very poor packaging!!Plant was still alive but I am surprised. All the dirt the plant was planted in was loose in the bag that was wrapped around it. The roots were totally exposed.

Beautiful and much bigger than expected.
The tree was bigger than I thought. Watered it immediately . Has a lot of leaves. Really beautiful. It’s is a little chilly still here and very windy , so after reading other reviews I planted little tree in a pot. The tree is delicate right now. I will slowly acclimate it to outdoors and then plant it. If tree doesn’t survive it will be totally my fault. No green thumb here.

Read reviews! Buy with caution. It's a coin toss on decent tree, or weak, frail twig thays green.
Order with caution. The "tree" I received was nothing more than a frail, thin twig with very few leaves. It cannot even stand up on its own without being tied to a stake. At first I thought I was sent a typical run of the mill Japanese Red Maple and not a Bloodgood. Ibe edited this review because my first one was very bad due to the twig being so bright green and so small. I still.dont believe this is a 2 year old tree. The Red Maples in the background of my photos are just gown from seed last spring, so my 1 year are twice as big, strong and much healthier. I edited the review and gave them a couple more stars simply because after re-potting, given nutrients and put in a spot with adequate sunlight the twigs leaves have started getting more and more red over the last couple of days as you can see in the newly added photo compared to the lime green leaves from my first posting. I am hoping it continues this trend and becomes dark red as a true Bloodgood should be. I still don't feel like I got my money's worth compared to some of the pics of the trees other people have received, but could've been worse since the pics of what other reviewers received are plum terrible looking. Wish I had been one of the lucky ones and got a decent size blood red maple as some have. Anyways, enough rambling. Just buy with caution. It will be like playing the lottery, you will either hit the jackpot or end up with a mostly green twig like mine, or a terrible looking twig as others have posted in the reviews. Fingers crossed my twig continues to turn blood red, gain strength, and lose the greenish leaves.

It’s NOT A Tree
If you’ve ever been “switched” as a child, your parents probably used something similar or larger than this “tree.” It’s a great little tiny Japanese Maple, but it’s a far cry from anything I would call a tree. Seedling, maybe, but not yet a tree. But we’re hopeful and will try to be good “tree parents.”

Arrived in great condition. Looks healthy and I can already see some red leaves coming out. I cannot wait to grow this tree into a big beautiful maple tree!
