good safe grazing muzzle
This is the only grazing muzzle I have found that works. Because it attaches to your halter (breakaway is best) you can adjust it so they can't take it off like so many of the others. I did add a braided extra throat latch to the halter because my horse is a determined Houdini.

Best Muzzle I've Tried Yet
UPDATE: I've used this muzzle for a year now and my pony accepts it with no fuss or fight. I also ordered another for our gelding who also accepted it with no fuss or fight. The muzzles are holding up great. Hands down these are the best muzzles available. I tried several brands before this and there's really no comparison. Worth every penny.I was quite hesitant about ordering what seemed like a simply but very costly piece of plastic for my muzzle-destroying pony but I'm thrilled that I gave this muzzle a chance as it's working out great. My large pony was right between a cob and horse size per the sizing suggestions. As he wears a cob in all things, I went ahead and ordered the cob which in hindsight might be a little snug but it's working for us. I followed the helpful instructions in fitting it to my halter (I used a sturdy leather halter he can't get out of - he gets out of his nylon with leather breakaway routinely). I think a good fitting and solid halter is a big part of ensuring that this works, especially for the escape artists like my guy. As soon as I put it on, he started his escape attempts - dragging it everywhere, rubbing in his legs and the fence, rolling, etc. He got his upper over the edge several times so I shortened the space between the muzzle and his nose to closer to .5 inches rather than the recommended 1 inch. That solved the upper lip over the edge problem but on day 2 I noticed the muzzle was rubbing his chin. I contacted Greenguard (they had reached out to me when I ordered the muzzle offering to assist) and sent pictures. April responded super quickly and helpfully - she suggested lowering the muzzle again to see if that helped the rubbing. After playing with it, I settled on .75 inch space as the "sweet spot" for the muzzle for my guy. I also reinforced the duct tape on on the strap that goes over the top/front of his nose to keep the muzzle from sliding around as well. I'm not sure what exactly helped stopped the rubbing (he stopped fighting it? He figured out how to eat with it in a better fashion? Stabilizing the muzzle with duct tape? Lowering it slightly?) but I'm glad I continued to play with it as after almost two weeks of daily use (he comes in at night into a stall so it comes off then) it's doing great and his chin is healing. I'm very glad I gave this muzzle a go and didn't give up on it before playing with it some and contacting Greenguard for some advice.I balked at the price of this muzzle at first ($120 seemed so much for a simple piece of plastic) but it's been worth it. My pony is VERY hard on muzzles and will tear his face up in an attempt to get them off. The Greenguard muzzle is my 3rd brand in about as many years and he doesn't fight it nearly as much, and seems much happier, so I'm quite pleased with it. He seems to be able to eat more naturally in it (without getting too much) as the other muzzles (with the round hole in the bottom) had him pecking the ground like a chicken. His face is never as dirty or sweaty as it used to be with his other muzzles either.Greenguard's customer service has also been fantastic as I exchanged several emails with April and she was responsive and helpful each time.

Hands down, the BEST grazing muzzle ever!
I bought a regular nylon halter for use with this, and so far so good! This is the ONLY grazing muzzle my pony doesn't absolutely hate!He got his nose around it once but we tightened the halter and there's been no problems since! He would get other muzzles off every few days!!With other muzzles they would rub his nose raw and it was stressful keeping it on him so he didn't founder. Also there was an issue with his breathing with other ones because they were VERY hot in the summer.I LOVE how it gives him room to move his mouth and chew freely! He is on pasture 24/7 and there are no other options where he is at. I am SO grateful for this thing! I hope it lasts the whole summer!!If you're concerned about paying a lot of money for one of these, consider the cost of a vet bill for founder or even losing your horse to that disease. Also consider all the cost of all the grazing muzzles, halters, and halter covers that you will inevitably go through with other ones! Trust me, I have spent far more money on those other ones than I have for this one.I was scared to pay so much money for yet another grazing muzzle... But trust me when I say this is by far the best purchase I've EVER made for this little guy. I'm sold and a lifelong loyal customer now!Thank you so much Greenguard for the peace of mind for both of us! I'm forever grateful!!!****edit (added)****The muzzle can rub, as can halters, depending on how your horse/pony eats with it on.Pony is not a fan of this muzzle, but accepts it with much less of a fight (as compared to past muzzles and using this without wool padding) and maintains a great weight with it. Haven’t had any founders issues in the past several years! What we do to combat the rubbing is add wool padding to the top and bottom part of the muzzle (on the top and bottom of his nose) and change them weekly (or every few days, depending on how well the pads are holding up). Also, we now use the Greenguard halter with him, as he was quite adept at getting any other halter off of his head after a few months of no issues. We added wool padding to the strap that goes directly down his forehead because that was starting to rub.I bought 100% wool pads and use a leather hole punch on each corner and weave shoe strings through the “grills” to attach it to the muzzle. So the strings don’t rub his nose, I weave them into the inside of the muzzle as little as possible. It’s not pretty, but my pony stays healthy and happy! That’s what’s important! We wash the pads in the washing machine and let them air dry, so we don’t spend a fortune on replacing the wool padding. It’s not as amazingly soft and supple after washing, but he does not get any rub marks or irritation on his face. :)

Best grazing muzzle by far!
This is by far the best grazing muzzle I’ve purchased. It’s not intrusive and my mare actually doesn’t resent it. The leather straps that hold it to the halter can fail and it’s best to use their halter as it’s really well designed. All in all I’ll be coming back for seconds on this one. After one season it’s already earned it’s purchase price and then some.

My Horses don’t mind wearing
Once you get proper fit the horse can breathe, graze and safely enjoy field time.

Great airflow, ligh, comfortable
As far as grazing muzzles go, this is the best I have tried thus far when it comes to comfort and easy breathing for your horse. This muzzle is light weight, allows for good airflow and my horse does not feel claustrophobic when I put it on. However, it took my horse some time to get used to it (about a week) and I would highly recommend that you start slow and let your horse get accustomed to wearing a grazing muzzle, because it can be frustrating for them when they are used to eating free choice grass 24/7. I started with an hour per day, while I was with him (the beginning is the hardest and they may not want to eat at all through it, so be patient and encouraging). He now only wears it about 5 hrs/day every second day and it made a big difference in his weight (he is an easy keeper). I would guess that it restricts food intake by a good 50-60% so it makes a difference when they are out on pasture. I did not want to put my horse in a small paddock or take him away from his friends, so with this grazing muzzle on he can still be with his friends and get exercise running through the pasture, while having his grass intake reduced and hence his weight managed. For me this grazing muzzle is a winner and I would definitely recommend to anyone whose horse is an easy keeper and is out on pasture 24/7. The only time I would not recommend this muzzle is when your horse is on round bales 24/7 and not on pasture. I did buy the Greenguard halter as well, but have to say that any break away halter will do the trick. I found that I did not really need the middle strap that runs down from the forelock and attaches to the nose strap, on the Greenguard halter. Just make sure you use a break away halter. I also taped the ends of the black attachment straps (straps that attach grazing muzzle to halter), with electrical tape, so they are neatly tucked away and the loop gap is closed.

It works!
Great product! I initially felt bad about using this with my overweight mare. She accepted it within minutes and can now safely spend 24 hours a day in her pasture. To my surprise, she is not frustrated by the much slower feeding and has finally started her journey to a healthy weight!
