Alan Parsons Project (Tribute)

Not bad for MIDI
In my opinion, some reviewers of this CD have missed the point of this recording. It obviously was not intended to be a "cover" of Alan Parson's tunes, or even a personal interpretation. (i.e. Andrew Powell's orchestra album playing APP hits). Think of it more as "Alan Parson selections played by a midi keyboard sequencer". The songs chosen are dominant keyboard songs, with all guitar / drum / orchestra parts played by keyboard. For what it is (a midi performance) it is a pleasant and formidable recording, which captures the spirit and authenticity of the songs chosen. I have never heard a midi performance of this caliber anyway, for that matter. Sure, there are some gaffes, but any midi guy knows how difficult it is to recreate a broad work of art to sound believable - and I feel that M.A.S.S. pulled this one off - if you're a casual APP fan, this may prove to be a delightful tribute to Alan and Eric, as I found it to be, in spite of the less-than-perfect presentation. If you are a die-hard APP fan, this is a must-have.

Interesting Attempt
Okay, it's not great. It's not even very good. But, it is interesting, and I like it.It's nearly impossible to recreate the Alan Parsons sound, and this recording doesn't get close. But, it's really okay. And, it's interesting to hear another version of these songs, even if they're attempts that fall far short of the originals.Bottom line - I'm glad I got the cd, and it's one I'll listen to on occasion....but not nearly as frequently as the originals!

Another poor attempt at cashing in on Alan Parsons
This album represents a group's attempt at being Alan Parsons. Unfortunately, they fall short. They don't have the production savy and resources as Parsons, and as a result, they have a CD which plays like a cover album three notches below the original material. The CD has nothing to mention as each note is an attempt to duplicate what Parsons and the Project masterfully created on the original songs.
