I’m very pleasantly surprised by the results of my first treatment.I didn’t experience any of the problems mentioned by other reviewers such as burning eyes or irritated scalp. I have been getting Brazilian Blowouts for about 12 years, and the fumes are definitely strong and tear-inducing.The only complaint I have is that the instructions and after-care guidance are subpar. The instructions printed on the bottle are completely different than the ones printed on the pamphlet that comes in the package.After reading a few reviews I was able to piece the thing together, with small adjustments based on my experience with Brazilian Blowouts:1. It is necessary to wash your hair at least twice and sometimes three times to get enough lather.2. I did not put any product directly on my scalp. I’m sure a small amount made its way, but I tried to keep it about a half of an inch away.3. Since other reviewers mentioned the product burned their eyes, I used gloves and a comb to apply the product, and was very careful not to get any of it on my face.4. I left the product for about 70 minutes.5. The instructions say to wash about 30% of the product before blow drying, but I removed much more than that…leaving that much product would have made it very difficult to blow dry and flat iron…I think I removed about 70%.6. Once the product starts to dry out, it becomes sort of a paste and the hair gets “stiff”…depending on how or where you are washing your hair, sometimes water doesn’t reach the “stiff” areas, but unless some of the product is removed from all areas, it will be nearly impossible to blow dry. Next time I won’t be as worried about the 30% mentioned in the instructions.7. I have highlights, and my hair is prone to breakage. Following the process my hairdresser follows for the Brazilian, I set the temperature of the flat iron to 350 degrees F. Much hotter than that, the hair can get really dry and the treatment can be counterproductive.8. My hair is wavy, frizzy and very thick and I found that passing the iron about 10 times per strand was the correct number. The thinner the strand the better.Since this is the first time I use the product, I can’t comment on the long term performance, but based on the first treatment, I’m very pleased with the results.
