desertcart.com: Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote Shell Case & Pad fits Toyota 2008-2013 Avalon / 2007-2011 Camry / 2008-2013 Corolla / 2009-2014 Venza (HYQ12BBY, GQ4-29T), Set of 2 : Automotive Review: Cheap fix for a broken key - This worked incredibly well to replace a key that had the plastic shell break apart. I had the blank key blade attached to the new shell cut at the Home Depot, just had to “trick” the machine to think it was cutting a non-chip blank. I transferred the chip and remote module from the old broken key into this new shell. This saved a ton of money, avoiding the cost of locksmith services or going to the Toyota dealership. Review: For broken Keys works as intended, no programming needed - My key broke and I didn't want to pay a dealer to get a new one. This key was perfect as it was just a shell and getting it cut was cheap at any locksmith. Opened up my old key and transferred over all the internals into this new shell. THE OLD KEY'S CHIP CAN BE TRANSFERRED OVER. So, the chip will be like a little rectangular box ON the inside shell (separate from the remote), of the old key. You can just take that out and put it into this new shell and the key will work. No programming needed.

Don't forget to bring "the chip" from existing key to this one
Decent quality compared to the original key that came with the car. Note that the key shell has a slot to hold a chip that communicates with the car ECM to start the engine. You must take "the chip" out of the existing key (check YouTube), and into this key after getting this key "cut" at a local store (K&K HW did it for me for $2 a piece a couple of weeks ago).

Worth the money
I've only had the keys for 2 days but they work. The hardest thing to do was finding someone to cut the key. Home Depot wouldn't do it. Ace also refused. However, they offered to sell me one of their keys for $35. I called a bunch of locksmiths and they were either mobile, $75, or wanted to take the lock out of my door. I eventually found A-1 locksmith and the guy there cut it for me in a matter of minutes. $6 a cut and well worth it. The other challenging part was moving the "chip" over to the new key. Watch a couple of youtube videos and you'll do just fine. Nice job Jeff. I approve!

If you have a Toyota, don’t wast your money ...
If you have a Toyota, don’t wast your money. Toyota fobs have an additional process (anti-theft) mechanism in their key fobs. So we transferred everything properly, had the key cut properly. Key fits and the fob works to unlock/lock the door, but the key will only turn the engine over and not actually start it. Toyota won’t “activate” the key with their patented machine because they want you to buy their own $300 key. A locksmith can’t activate it either.

More information is required to know why the key will not start csr
The keys once cut assembled will open the doors but the engine will not start even thou the key turns in the ignition

I would recommend and repurchase.
Works perfectly. I didn't know that I had to take the chip out of my original key. When I was informed of that and watched a few YouTube videos on how to get it out, I put it in this key fob. I then had a locksmith cut the key. His cut was not good. I took it to another locksmith to re-cut the key and it worked perfectly. I would recommend and repurchase. The cut was $9 and the fobs were $10. Can't beat that price for two replacement keys with a chip. No dealer fees or rip offs. USARemote had excellent customer service.

Wow, this saved me some money.
I had two of these keys cut for $4 each at Ace Hardware. Locksmith wanted $35 each. Once the keys were cut, assemble all the buttons, put in the transponder from the broken shell, install the chip and I now have a fully functioning key. Everything retrofitted perfectly for my Toyota car. You can keep the old key if it is still good as a spare for opening the lock, in case you lock yourself out.
