Great kit of Brixhams centrepiece.
Living in the tiny port fishing town of Brixham (Devon) in the 70s I spent a lot of time on the replica of Sir Francis Drakes flagship, The Golden Hind.Its a female deer, nothing to do with bums.There has been a Golden Hind in Brixham for as long as I can remember and I paid 50p and would spend hours wandering that ship.This Heller model is a very good reproduction but choosing the paint scheme is a matter of choice, look at online photos, there are several variations as Brixhams Golden Hind is not the only one.Fairly easy kit even for a novice though an experienced modeller supervising would be a good idea.Nice kit when finished at about a foot long so fits on a shelf easily.Went together well but I think this is a fairly old kit now, possibly a re-boxing of an old Revell kit from the 70s so do not expect modern Tamiya levels of fit, some sanding and filling of gaps may be needed but this was less than 30 quid so was a bargain.Great model of a fond childhood memory.

Heller kits
The companies model kits are normally of a high standard, but unfortunately on this occasion some of the parts had become detached from there anchor points. This has resulted on a part being missing. Fortunately not a main part so can complete the model.

A great challenge of painting, particularly for my first kit
Mostly a great kit, however, some of the masts were bent, and surplus plastic from the moulds ruins some of the detail.

Nice model easy to construct.
My first Heller model and certainly not the last. Simple straightforward instructions, all pictures so no need for French translation. Very little flashing so hardly any clean up, fits together very well no problems encountered at all. Painting instructions are superb even if the Elizabethan Dazzle paint is a pain to do very time consuming but very effective. Comes with cotton for the rigging, Blocks tackle and running blocks giving the rigging a nice realistic finsh enhances the model no endVery pleased weeks of fun for very little cost already looking at other Heller ships.
