After traveling to Israel I have been looking for a blend of Za'atar. This spice company (Spice Way) was recommended to me and they did not disappoint! The Za'atar came in an easy open (with zip-lock seal) foil pouch. It is very fresh and fragrant with no additives or preservatives. I don't think it will need a preservative as I like the flavor so much it will be used up quickly. I did transfer this blend into a shaker jar for ease of use. I believe this packet held 4 oz. and cost around $9 making it a great value. It is pretty versatile. I use it in salads, on eggs, in Mediterranean dishes. I even sprinkle it on my buttered toast in the morning. Very flavorful, very Yummy!

but so far I am very much impressed with this product. Seems to be of very high quality. Sturdily packaged. Strong, fresh smell. No clumps.This is my initial adventure into zaatar. Never had it before. Opened the bag, wet a finger, and dipped. Surprisingly beautiful, slightly salty, intense and rich flavor. I'm hooked! I would say that it could be used most anywhere, on anything, depending on one's taste preferences. I certainly will be experimenting.

This was the only brand that advertised they used real hyssop rather than thyme in their formula. My research showed many observers described hyssop as "medicinal" or "like camphor." Being adventurous I tried it anyway and found it GREAT! It is sharp and aromatic and provides a unique flavor to anything I cook. This is some of the best za'atar I've used in a long time. Like all of the Spice Way products I've used, it was super fresh, smelled awesome and tasted even better. I've mainly used it in hummus and labneh, but it also works well as a seasoning for veggies and chicken. You can really taste the difference the hyssop brings to the mix, versus other brands that use thyme and/or oregano. It's a solid, earthy, herbaceous zing that really adds something to a dish.The Spice Way has great packaging for all their spices. They come in heavy duty, plastic, resealable bags that are clear on one side, and are all dated for freshness. They work really well.
