I only bought this because it was on sale as part of a bundle with the Echo 5. I thought it would be really cool to own a color changing light. Being a person who has no experience with this, I just assumed it would be quick and easy to set up. Lies and deceit. I spent weeks trying to get this thing to connect to my Echo. It never did. After lots of trouble shooting, I finally go on YouTube to the company’s instructional videos on how to reset the light bulb. In the comments, everyone is saying that this light will not connect to the Sengled or Matter apps nor the Amazon Echo. In short, it is a useless incredibly expensive regular white lightbulb that will waste hours of your life trying to make it change colors and it never will. Don’t buy this. End rant.

I just wanted a simple light without colors and different shades of White - based on temperature. I use these in our bathroom. I still use the home switch. It take a second for them to reconnect to WiFi each time I turn them on. However, what is really cool is when you are in the tub just chilling and you can dim the lights with Alexa. I would recommend this product to anyone. Very easy to setup. I would recommend for those who are not tech savvy to use a lamp to setup for first initial setup. Once setup then screw them into lights that are located on the ceiling or above bathroom mirror. It just makes the setup process easier. Oh, and setup one at a time first.

At first I did get sengled smart bulb to work on Alexa but after one day it went into the unresponsive mode. I kept trying to pair following troubleshooting instructions and Google. It said to get another code from another app which was confusing. So I gave up and put in a return for my bulbs. Then a few days passed and I decided to give one more try. And the kicker is that after no success the first time I started to utilize the Amazon smart plug for my lights in home. So when I re-paired the Sengled smart bulb along with the Amazon smart plug it worked perfectly and no issues/ it just creates another light in the app for that particular light. And also the other thing is that you have to make sure you reset the bulb to the original state before trying to pair it again when the lamp is plugged into the amazon smart plug. I did this with 3 already. And another thing it did was the smart bulbs also says Connected Via echo dot that I have upstairs, which is paired with another Smart bulb that is the Amazon smart bulb brand and not Sengled. Which is so weird because it worked perfectly from the start. I’m also wondering with me having the Amazon smart Bulb paired with my Alexa app does that what makes the Sengled smart bulbs work perfectly this time. Not sure but it is something to think about. Also the new lights in the Alexa app populates the 11 digit code under the settings for the new light, which didn’t do that on my first attempt to troubleshoot, but I didn’t need the new codes which expire after 15 minutes of populating. The Sengled bulbs connected using the Amazon smart plug and possibly because of me also having an Amazon Smart Bulb paired to Alexa as well. Hope I’m not confusing but it all blew my mind when I tried again before shipping back. 😊

These bulbs are extremely hard to reconnect, and now many of mine will not work with the Alexa app at all. They have responded to me before, so they know this has been an ongoing problem. Now that the bulbs will not work and there is no app that properly connects them, they will not help me or do anything to make it right. I now have 16 Sengled bulbs that do not work the way they should, and the company has not honored what they advertise. If I could give this zero stars, I would.
