Originally I thought I was going to make a simple Z style gate, but then remembered how hard it was to hang and I am 35 years older than I was when I built the original gate. This whole thing went together SO easily. I put the square foundation together on a flat surface and mounted that on the post before attaching the fence boards. I did have help which made it even easier, but even as a 74 year old woman I could have done it myself if need be. (Yes, I used the 35 year old 2x4s because they were stronger than the new ones that I bought. And yes, it is not exactly centered, but I had good reasons for building it that way. It would have been equally easy to center the boards. You can see from the random screw placement that I just wanted this done. It would have been easy enough to align them, but this gate is purely functional in my side yard, so I didn't bother.)
