Platoon [DVD] [1987]

The classic Vietnam movie from the 1980s and the translation to Blu Ray format simply improves it...highly recommended

I have watched this movie more times than any other movie. I used to have it recorded off the idiot b9x on VCR so would throw it on almost daily as a teenager.Soundtrack is banging too.Supposedly, when Mr. Jim Morrison was found dead in the bathtub, they found this script in his jacket pocket. Imagine how nuts that could have been. Already an iconic war movie, with Jim Morrison instead of Charlie Sheen (who was brilliant) it would have seen Apocalypse Now in the rear view mirror.

one of the originals, that still packs a punch. a sad and violent story. how ever, it is not for the faint hearted. the violence is necessary, to high lite the terrible truth about what happens in war. whach it and keep an open mind.

Ok anti war stories

I have seen this film multiple times but never bought it. It has to be one of the best Vietnam war films ever made.

This is possibly the definitive ‘Vietnam’ war film, along with the likes of Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket and The Deer Hunter? You can put those in what order you wish? Some would add the WW11 film Private Ryan, as a great American war film too?The Vietnam War was an American disaster, they have recently admitted that it was a war that they wished that they’d never gotten into and that in hindsight was a mistake. A very costly one at that, spread over the 19 gruelling years. America suffered huge casualties themselves, even if small compared tho the enemy. America threw its full military might at the Viet Cong, but they were ultimately beaten, or more accurately, couldn’t win even with a massively superior armoury? The after effects of this war are now ingrained in American history.The film does a great job in bringing home the horrors of war and just how men are dehumanised in these situations. It is superbly shot.The film clearly tries to cover as many of the salient points of the war as possible - the jungle warfare and how difficult it was to put the the ‘very savvy’ enemy down in their own back yard? It covers the drug abuse (and eventual addiction for many), the ‘fragging’ of officers, the disharmony in the ranks and the racism that clearly existed. The atrocities that occurred (very common in most wars) are also covered, and so is the ultimate will to get the hell out of there in one piece and back home!The film does a great job in all of this and thoroughly deserved its academy award. I found it a very interesting and factual watch - according to what has been written thus far.

Could watch this on repeat!

La edición por el 25 aniversario no es gran cosa en cuanto a formato: Caja de plástico, sin libretos. He visto alguna libro-edición con mejor pinta. Eso sí, trae algunos extras como contenido que vienen descritos en el producto (Comentarios del director, trailer cinematográfico, comentarios de Doyle, etc).La imagen, sin yo ser nada entendido ni purista, creo que es más que aceptable para un bluray.Y el audio. El audio es la razón principal por la que escribo esta opinión: La versión de la que hablo (Platoon (25' anniversario) [Italia] [Blu-ray]) trae Castellano 5.1 (además de Latino 5.1). Es decir, se ajusta la descripción del producto.Lo digo porque cuando yo lo compré, este producto no tenía ninguna reseña y no siempre la descripción del producto en cuanto a idiomas se ajusta luego a la realidad. Además había una reseña escrita sobre la versión francesa que podía confundir un poco porque salía bajo este producto y decía que había que "entender francés".Así que si alguien estaba dudando, trae 5.1 Castellano, y el precio es excelente.Saludos.

Habe jetzt schon mehrere BluRay bei medimops erworben und bin bisher noch nie enttäuscht worden. Die Ware war immer in einwandfreiem Zustand ohne irgendwelche Mängel und kam sehr gut verpackt und sehr schnell bei mir an!
