SGT114 USB Smart Card, CAC, SIM and Multi Memory SDXC Reader

"I bought this CAC reader gadget on advice from a coworker who's been using one for 6 months. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I've traveled twice with it. For starters it arrived unbelievably fast. I installed ActivClient and root certificates on my new Sony Win 7 laptop and plugged in the reader. I had instant access to AKO! It was about a thousand times easier than installing the CAC reader on my home computer.I keep a 1GB microSD memory chip from my old phone in the reader so it functions as a thumb drive. I've also used it to read the 4GB SDHC memory from my Samsung camera and a 16GB memory stick duo from my Sony CX7 camcorder. No problems. Work's great with Sony's Picture Motion Browser program.One problem, it only reads one memory chip at a time. I have to dislodge the microSD chip before it can read the SDHC or memory stick duo. I can live with that but it took some time to figure out. It does read my CAC card and one memory chip at the same time though. Otherwise I think its great and deserves 5+ stars.BTW I have not tried the SIM card reader function yet."

Terribly made product. The cord broke after about 5 uses.

The product is nice and working. Unfortunately, the SDXC reader feature does not work on windows XP even using the provided CD ROM with drivers.

I use smart cards everyday on Windows, Ubuntu, and OS X. The first thing you will notice, the smart card has to much wiggle room inside the device. Meaning that after you insert the smart card, it can move left or right causing the contacts to no longer be on the chip or in the wrong alignment. This is just poor design as all modern smart cards have the same dimensions. The smart card should not be movable inside the reader. You must make sure you guide the card in straight or it will angle as the reader has no guides to keep the card in the correct alignment.Bad design aside, my particular unit would not successfully read any smart cards. I tried dozens of times while watching a real-time debug log. Only once did it successfully read a card. Afterwards, I could not replicate it. I did not try any other functions of the reader. If you are require reading memory cards, you may have better success. However, if you need to read smart cards, I can not recommend this unit.

I like this card reader because of the compact size. It's about the size of a credit card and that makes it easy to keep with you. The reader has read every card I have placed in it. SIM (cell Phone). Micro sd. It read my smart card as well (bank card). I am not in the military so I do not have a CAC card to try. For the cards I have it works. The driver program is functional and works, I do however think they could have made it with more features. The driver is just basic, and is updateable from the manufacturer.

Plugged into my Windows 7 computer and it found drivers automatically.I've only used it for SDXC cards so far, but it's working great and is really fast!It is credit card sized and very thin. Perfect for carrying around with you to use with a laptop.It does have a very short USB connector on it so you depending on where you're going to use it you may want a USB extentension cable.Pros: Fast, installed easilyCons: Does not accept mini/micro-USB connector, cards don't "click in" and you really can't tell if it's in all the way or not

I bought this product to view text messages and usage on my boyfriends SIM card (from Iphone). What I learned was that after someone deletes something it is gone. However, I tested a AT&T sim card from about 5 years ago and the reader showed my old phone book. Anyways I am sure the product is good - it just left me dissapointed.. tough luck for me!

I have been using it with my cac and it works good without any problems but recently I tried using the micro SD 64 gb card .. it was first time ever the cac reader became very hot that I can smell the something burning ... like plastic burning smell not sure if it was just the micro SD slot but it messed up my micro SD card lost all my data ..
