Keeps kids safe and secure
We had a toddler in our house who figured out doors and locks very early and was also a "runner," and so we were looking for a way to prevent unexpected exits through the front and back doors of the house that was more secure than a door alarm. The GlideLok was exactly what we needed. The product was easy to install, and it fit perfectly over every size door in our house. It took minimal work and tools to install (though you'll want a drill and possibly a small 1/16" sized drill bit). In no time, we felt more secure about preventing our little ones from leaving the house without us knowing. In-home sitters have also commented about how they feel much more secure knowing the kids are not opening the front or back door. It's super sturdy, and even after accidental strong attempts by an adult to open the door while it was locked, the GlideLok held fast and didn't damage the top of our door. Even after a year or more of use, the gliding mechanism works smoothly and effortlessly. It's as easy as a deadbolt to lock.If there is one downside we've found (and it's not with the product itself), it's remembering to unlock the slider in addition to the door's regular locks. As mentioned before, the adults in the house have mistakenly pulled on the door while the top lock is engaged. Thankfully, this has not yet resulted in any issues (other than perhaps some embarrassment for the opener of the door), but it is something you need to make mental note of when in use.As far as overall safety goes, we did consider household fire safety when installing this product. We ultimately determined that while our kids were preschool and younger it was more important for us to know they were not leaving the house without us and to be responsible for unlocking the door and moving them out to safety in the event of a fire/carbon monoxide incident. As we've worked with our kids to leave the outside doors and locks alone, we have gradually shifted to using the GlideLok only when our kids are playing independently and moving in and out of the rooms where we are.In summary, I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to any other parent looking for an extra layer of peace of mind.

Works like a charm
Over all it's been good. I did try to remove the rear plate and install felt on both sides to protect the door a bit, but even though it was a tight fit, I found that there was a bit too much play when force was applied and it would walk off the post. Using the included metal spacer, there's no issues with it unlocking itself with repeated attempts to open.I would like if a newer version or an accessory were available to install so that the single metal screw wasn't where all the force was applied. Something about relying on the one screw makes me worried that enough force would rip it loose from the board - maybe accidentally bumping it while moving something bulky.

Sturdy product, great instructions
This is the only thing I've found that is good for opening from both sides of the door that is impossible for a toddler to break. We used on our attick door as well as another door that leads to steps.

Autism Mom Approved
Game changer for my four year old’s room. He has figured out all the locks but isn’t tall enough to reach this. It’s also held up to his strength. Easy installation. Peace of mind.

Great for eloping children
The media could not be loaded. I bought this because our daughter who has autism and elopes figured out how to unlock the deadbolt. We really needed something that could be opened from inside and out. This keeps her in and allows those who need to get in to enter. It does not affect the lock. The only modification I made was I put a little felt in the inside of the slider on the outside of our front door so the paint isn’t scratched. It wouldn’t fit with felt on the inside on both sides but we have touch up paint for the inside of the door. That would be my only recommendation for the designer.

Works well enough, but it's not ideal.
So I've got this installed upstairs to keep my 3 year old from running around a semi dangerous loft area. This seemed like an ideal solution, but isn't for several reasons.Pros:Installed in less than a minute.Does indeed lock the door well enough that I doubt my 3yo will easily get through.Cons:Doesn't slide well, and will damage your door no matter how well fitted/adjusted the door is. It's metal rubbing on painted surface. If a child rattles it, it will certainly rub and move around enough to damage paint.Grabs glossy paint rather than slides easily. Is not very sturdy or confidence inspiring. It jiggles like wild and has "play" in it unless your door is exactly the right thickness, which would then make it not slide well. It NEEDS that play in order to operate at all and is an inherent design flaw.Only holds on one top corner meaning that if lots of pressure is put on the door, specifically down low where a kid would do so in the unsupported corner, it will warp any hollow core door to the point of stress cracks. Seriously, a kindergarten aged kid could definitely put enough pressure on this to hurt a hollow core door just due to how the stress is on the door.A huge flaw is that there is no "stop" for the sliding component and it can interfere with the plastic "pin" that catches the latch. Meaning if you close your door without looking you can snap that pin, bend the sliding component, and do damage to your door.Overall, it does the job for a very young child, but there are better solutions out there.Ideas for improvement for the creator:Add Teflon or plastic shims inside sliding portion to ease sliding and protect paint a little.Add a "spring" to the sliding portion, so that it conforms to more door sizes.Add another, smaller screw/pin that can be used along the "track" of the sliding portion to block the sliding portion from going too far and interfering with the latching pin.I'm general non-marring, less cheap, materials should have been used all around.

Worth the money!
Much better than the baby locks that stick to the sides, great to be able to use from either side of the door!

Worked great Not all parts included - Had to jimmy rig
I only got the slide lock part. not the part to drill into the door frame. I ended up using a 3 inch screw and the inside of a roll of dog poop bags, and it works fine. I tried to contact the seller via a message, and got an automated response just asking me to review. My solution works, but was certainly not what I expected.

Works but not worth the money
The product does work but the only two options are with the provided spacer and with out it, both options did not fit my door. I bought stick on felt as spacers and that also protects the door paint.
