I LOVE this device! (Update 2: Back from the Dead.)
2025/01/17 UPDATE 2: Mobiscribe support did eventually reply to my email several weeks later and apologized. They offered a few suggestions that didn't work. Then they told me: "If you have purchased a refurbished device, the device is eligible for refund or exchange within 14 days of receiving for defects only."A fourteen day warranty is ridiculous, even if it was refurbished. I had no warning during the purchase process that the warranty was so pitiful. I had never purchased a refurbished product before and expected Mobiscribe to stand behind the products they sell, refurbished or new. Otherwise they can just stick consumers with known faulty products. The price I paid for the refurbished unit was the same price the new device was on Black Friday, and close to the current price on Mobiscribe.com... so it's not like I got a huge discount for taking such a risk. The support person did recommend just leaving it plugged in for 1-2 days. I plugged it in and it eventually came back to life about three days later and has been working okay ever since. (I still really miss having a built-in dictionary though!)LESSON: Do not buy a furbished device from Mobiscribe unless you're okay with potentially getting stuck with a device out of warranty after 14 days.-----------------------2024/10/07 UPDATE: The "Like New" Mobiscribe I bought died 77 days after I received it. The battery stopped charging, went to 0% and has not been able to be resuscitated. I tried several other charging cords to make sure it was not just a problem with the Mobiscribe charging cord.I contacted Mobiscribe support on Sept 26 through their website, and also on Sept 27 through Amazon (they were the seller), and I have not received any reply. They sold me a device that was supposed to be Like New, but the battery only lasted 77 days which is ridiculous. I also bought a $40 Mobiscribe Wave cover from their website, which is now worthless to me.I am extremely disappointed in Mobiscribe. I had hoped they would be my go-to company for E-ink devices, but they are proving themselves unreliable and untrustworthy.I will update again if I ever hear from Mobiscribe support.========================Original Review:I have the Kindle Scribe and other 10 inch eNote devices. I also tried the 7.8" Boox Nova Air2 last year but ended up returning it. I really didn't like the screen. pen or software of the Boox Nova Air2. I like this Mobiscribe Wave B&W much better. The screen is great, the lighting is perfect, and it's really nice to write on. (Nicer than the Boox in my opinion.) The pencil is very comfortable, has an eraser tip and is not too slippery when writing on the screen.I prefer the software/UI of the Mobiscribe Wave, which has almost every function I want without being overly complicated. (I'm looking at you Boox.) The only thing lacking is that I haven't found a way to get definitions to pop up when using the built-in reading app. I added ForaDict app and a couple StarDicts, which I used with previous Android eNote devices, but I don't see an option to access it when highlighting a word in a book. I could use a different reading app with dictionaries, but my preference is the built-in app.I was able to add additional fonts by creating a "fonts" folder in the root directory and adding them there. I favor bold fonts and didn't see an option to choose bold, so for each font family I only added the Bold and Bold Italic files. After restarting the device, the new fonts were available in the reading app. Text on the screen is very sharp. The background is a nice shade of eink white and I appreciate the similar color of the bezel that causes it to "disappear" while reading. The 7.8" Mobiscribe Wave B&W is a lot nicer to hold than my Kindle Scribe and other 10" eNotes. It also feels better to me than the 7.8" Boox Nova Air2. I'm not sure if that's because of the wave shape on the back, but it really is a pleasure to read with the Mobiscribe Wave.I wasn't able to find a listing for the cover, and had to order it from the Mobiscribe website. It is very nice and worth buying. It has an elastic loop pencil holder along with a larger magnetic clasp that I guess can hold a magnetic pen. It also serves to make sure the cover closes evenly so that the magnet in the corner triggers the device sleep function. My Kindle Scribe cover often would not close properly and I would have to shift the cover around to get the device to go to sleep. This is a great eNote device at a terrific price. Plus, Mobiscribe is the only American eNote company that I know of, and I love to buy American! Highly recommended!

Good e-reader, worst battery life
I've had this e-reader for 5 months now. It's pretty much the ONLY android e-reader with the Google Play store that's also waterproof. These were the two primary selling points for me, as I've lost expensive e-readers to high humidity and moisture; and all of my e-books are in my Google Books library, whether i purchased them from Google books or not. That's just where i keep them as they update concurrently on all devices. For this, the Mobiscribe Wave is pretty good. Everything in that capacity works well, no issues. My only complaint is that you have to access all of the Google Play apps through a separate menu button on the main screen, and you can't change any of the buttons on the main screen. My biggest complaint, though, is that this e-reader has the worst battery life of any e-reader I've ever owned. That includes all of the super cheap B&N nook e-readers that I've had back in the day. Even sitting on standby when not in use it has to be plugged in to recharge once a week. If I'm actively reading a book i have to charge it every several days. With my cheap Nooks 1 charge would last a month or more on standby, and 3 weeks when actively reading. This meant that while traveling for 2 months recently this thing was connected to the charger practically all the time. And I'm reading it usually on the lowest light settings. Doesn't even seem to matter if WiFi is on or off.Edit 3/21/2024 - I'm docking another star. After the latest update the e-reader now routinely freezes to the point that i have to hard reboot it frequently when i wake it from sleep. ON TOP OF THAT, the device is now CHUGGING through its battery life at an ludicrous speed. I'm now getting to the point where i regret buying this thing, and that sucks.

Awesome eink reader and more for a great price
Primary use case is hand written notes, reading and some light office calendar work. I have terrible hand writing and the ocr rarely fails to convert it correctly. Google play is awesome you can download whatever you want like kindle app chrome, Google calendar, office apps einkbro. Without Google play you can still use the mobistore to install a few other popular e readers and Adobe PDF reader. Coming from an Amazon Paperwhite this thing performs well is fast and does exactly what it says it does. Build quality is great and the pen with no battery needed is perfect to write and erase. There is a mobile app so let's say you write a bunch of notes and forget your wave at home. Well the mobile app allows you to read these anywhere which is awesome. The support is also great they got back to me on a mobile app issue and fixed it in 2 days. This is black and white and I am not sure the color is really going to add a lot for my own use case described above. If you plan on working with pictures, read comics or are an artist (in any capacity) then those would be good reasons. All eink devices are a bit slow there really is no lag when changing pages in a book or writing or even opening closing apps. Speaker is fine don't use it much Bluetooth works great.Battery so far has been very good lasting anywhere from 3 days to a week depending on backlight and wifi usage.

Poor Pen + Not Easy to Connect to Google Drive.
This is a good, small, portable digital notebook. The pen that I received didn't work well. Luckily, I had a spare Kindle Scribe pen - which works fine. I'm not sure if the pen problems, that I experienced, apply just to the pen supplied to me or apply to all Mobiscribe pens. The other problem, that I've experienced, is connecting the device to Google Drive. This appears to involve some sort of complex ritual that I can't follow. I want to like this device because, with a good pen, it's an excellent, relatively low cost, digital notebook.
