Hard as nails
I bought these to help remove the sump nut from a 2003 MINI Cooper I'm currently restoring. I needed to drop the oil in order to sort a leaking sump gasket and of course, give it a service. Upon getting underneath the car it appears the previous owner / garage to work on the car had air tooled this sump nut on - to the point where the rubber seal behind the head of the bolt had flattened and was not sealing the sump - oil was leaking around the back of the nut, and the edges were slightly rounded.I set about it with a standard 6-sided 13mm socket on a 1/2" ratchet - wouldn't budge. 4ft Breaker bar? Wouldn't budge as the rounded edges of the bolt meant I couldn't get enough purchase on the bolt without it slipping. Impact driver had the same issue. Jumped on Amazon and nearly bought another non-branded set for almost twice the price but plumped for these instead - partly for the price and partly as these were all metric sizes whereas the other set was a mix of metric and imperial.Got them down to the car today and hammered the #5 (13mm) socket onto the nut. As this was so tight, I didn't fancy putting a 3/8" > 1/2" adapter in the rear of the bolt remover socket but they fit perfectly inside a 19mm impact socket. Stuck this little assembly on the end of my 1/2" Stormforce impact driver and within a couple of seconds the bolt started to move. Popped the socket across to my normal ratchet and finished winding the bolt out.The bolt was well and truly wedged into the bolt remover - I didn't fancy my chances on getting the bolt out to be honest but a bit of heat and a screwdriver hammered down the middle and the two came free. Then the best bit - the bolt was totally knackered (not that it wasn't already and a new one was pre-ordered anyway) but the removal socket doesn't have a single mark on it - the teeth and flutes are in perfect condition and I've given this some proper welly with a 4lb hammer and an impact driver.Couldn't ask for a better result. Awesome, awesome product and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Buy it now! Thank you Blue Spot and Amazon - one very satisfied customer. :)

Removed a very stuck bolt first time!
I was having a right chew on trying to get a stuck locking wheel nut out that had been over-torqued. Decided to try these as a last resort and was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked! Smashed the socket onto the head of the bolt with a lump hammer and put a long breaker on it. Had to really give it some force but it didn't let go and the bolt wound right out!The best part is there's no visible damage to the tool so they're made of hard stuff.Would recommend for the price.

reasonable for occassional use
They seem hardened ok and a reasonable range of sizes, case is ok, but flimsey but fine at the price. Not sure they are really that effective - would be ok for a bolt with a rounded head that isnt too tight, but if really tight they seem to cut into the head and just round it off more.

Worked perfectly.
Got me out of a tight spot with a corroded battery retaining clip and bolt.Bolt extractor gripped the bolt head with no fuss and let me get the bolt out intact, saving me hours of work.Would recommend.

Shocked and stunned - worked really well!
I needed to remove the 3rd row seats from my LR Defender. The fittings are a dreadful design with the bolt ends exposed to the elements in the wheel arch. Worse still, they're torx bolts and have round heads so no chance of using grips if they're stuck. The first bolt was so tight that I'd broken (not worn), the inside of the torx. Found the right fitting and with a bit of brute force, the bolt was soon off.The second had been a problem for years an the head was badly damaged from an ill-judged attempt to drill through. Bolt removed just bit in and out it came. Not sure how long they'll last, but happy even if two is the limit.

Very good quality tools
These tools are very very good. The bolt I had to remove was completely round, no tool was gripping to this anymore. These tools have gripped so well, removed the bolts, and I had to hammer the bolt out after removing. Amazing, and very good quality

Didn't work on my bolts
I'm sure this is a great tool but it didn't work on my bolts.I was trying to remove an 8 mm triple square spline bolt. It wasn't rusted in.The bolt was shallow with a rounded head. It was somewhere between 15 and 16 mm across and therein lie the problem. The 16 mm socket span round without getting traction. The 15 mm socket tried to get purchase but just ground away at the head, no matter how much force was exerted to try to hold the socket on the bolt head. It was through light sheet metal so using a hammer to get it to lock wasn't an option.

Brilliant piece of kit for rounded off seized bolts!
Bought this to try and get a brake caliper retaining bolt off a 16 year old Volvo XC90 that someone had butchered. It was so badly rounded off and damaged I was convinced it wouldn’t work but it was my last option. With plenty of penetrating oil and by applying steady pressure it came out first time. As others have said I think the key is to apply steady pressure and plenty of penetrating oil. I can’t imagine many bolts are harder to remove than off a 16 year old Volvo brake caliper even if they’re not rounded off like mine was, so if it can do this it should manage most jobs.

parfait
