I was in the market for an at home mowing blade sharpening solution. The puck like sharpeners that get checked into a drill just don't work well. Hand filing takes significant time and a steady hand. An expensive dedicated sharpening tool was to much, and to bulky for residential use.This jig/guide is an amazing tool to create repeatable sharpening passes with a common angle grinder. It is rather small and easily stowable and can be either permanently attached to a workbench or used in a vice, like I did in the photo.Setup was easy, just ensure all hardware is secured tight, as the fasteners are loosely installed to begin. The blade holder is easily reversible to hold normal residential blades, or for larger width blades such as commercial blades like the Oregon Gator G6 Blade in the photos.From there you simply attach the angle grinder of your choosing into the guide and consistent grinding angle passes can be made to keep the factor edge angle. It is sturdy and with tight tolerances and has a clean appearance and finish. The packaging includes 4 common thread pitch ears to fit most grinder heads where side handles normally screw in.The instructions are in color, and the packaging was great with custom cut foam for the unit. This is a high quality unit at fair market pricing. Definitely worth the investment if you would like to do your own blade sharpening and extend blade life, and increase cut quality and grass health.

So, I know that this is a cheaper version of a more solid design, but I expected it to be a bit sturdier than it is. The whole purpose is to lock in an angle for your angle grinder and I feel like there is just enough play in the bars to alter the angle one way or another. In practice, it's probably not enough to matter and is probably a 1-2 degree play, but it bugs me enough to take a star off. That said, I'll use it until it is no longer stable or breaks, at which point I'll probably upgrade.Now, the good news is that it works as designed. It effectively locks in a desired angle and lets you quickly sharpen a blade. I'm not sure if I would buy this particular model again, but I would DEFINITELY buy this kind of design. I recommend looking at reviews for this one and several others like it and coming to a decision based on balance between quality and price.

The media could not be loaded. I have been sharpening my blades with a bench top grinder for years. Then I switched to my handheld grinder with a sanding paddle.This has now upped my lawn care game. Being able to sharpen the blades at a consistent angle is extremely helpful. The tool arrived and there was minimal assembly. As you can see in the video and pics, I mounted mine to a scrap piece of lumber and then placed that in a vice so I could do this outside. I just don’t have a good space or a workbench indoors to mount this (yet). I purchased the brass fittings at the same time in case there was unnecessary wobbling, but I must be lucky because I didn’t experience any play. The mounting bolt fit my Dewalt grinder fine and it slid into the sleeve on the tool with no play. There are pictured instructions included, but if you’re reading this and have any skills it all, you won’t have any problems. My blades fit snug and I attached the grinder. The blades I sharpened were in real rough shape. I’ve hit tree roots and there were chips in the blade. I set the tool at 30 degrees and began sharpening. I had to spend a couple minutes on each side of each blade…but I got them all nice and sharp, ready to shear some turf. If you’re considering this tool you already know how important sharp blades are. Because this keeps the grinder at a consistent angle it’s a no brainer. There are tools that are several hundred dollars you could purchase that sharpen blades but I feel you save money with this and likely do just as good. If you do get a model that has that wobbly play others mention, just spend the extra money to get the fittings and Loctite. You’ll still be way ahead on savings. Additionally I like how this tool doesn’t take up a lot of space with its small footprint. Because mine is on scrap lumber I can store it away and then get it out when needed.

This blade sharpener is really great! I have never been able to sharpen my mower blade this sharp and this FAST!Most impressed with the product quality and the incredible speed of sharpening and blade sharpness! Truly worth every penny. And, the customer service is first class!
