EsschertDesign 2075463 Squirrel Proof Peanut Butter Feeder, Green (Peanut butter not included)

I was looking for a squirrel proof holder to keep them off my Flutter Butter feeder and this really does the trick. The Flutter Buster plastic canister sits in the inner holder and I secured it at a slight angle to ensure it doesn't fall forward. At first the small birds were a little hesitant but now absolutely love it - and the squirrels have given up!

I prefer to hang it from my bird feeder. It has nothing to tie from except its cage. Has kept the larger birds out which is why I bought it.

After a constant battle with our naughty squirrels, I gave up on the normal hanging peanut butter feeder (costing us a fortune!) and bought this.I added a hanging basket chain rather than securing it to the wall, as I wanted to hang it outside the kitchen window. The little birds love it and with fledging season it has been a delight watching them discover the peanut butter. However, it was soon discovered by the squirrels and on the second morning I caught them hanging off it, pulling the jar towards them and chomping away.I had already read that the clip needed further securing and had added a twist of wire, but could see that the jar sliding forwards is an issue. I tried an elastic band round the neck of the jar wired to the side, but that didn't really work. I have now had to add a chain across the bottom third of the cage, in order to stop the jar sliding forwards (something which I also saw has been commented on in other reviews). I had some spare hanging basket chain so I threaded it through from one strut to another, and wired it taut, so as to 'lock' the jar in place and stop it sliding forwards. It seems low enough that the birds will still be able to access the peanut butter, indeed, it may even help as a perch once the peanut butter is eaten more.I haven't seen yet whether the squirrels will manage something else, but will report back!

Pleased with the fact it holds a small jar well but disappointed that the catch fell off within a day of using. Now having to close it with wire. It's only because it's fixed to my fence, that I'm not returning it.

The squirrel proof feeder is not fit for purposeI have just bought two feeders to use with flutter butter and they are definitely not squirrel proofIn fact the squirrel was able to get the whole jar out which smashed all over my patio leaving shards of glass everywhereI have two dogs one of which is a very inquisitive puppyLuckily I saw the jar smash preventing what could have been a terrible accidentI could have had seriously cut paws and worse the puppy would try to eat it!!I was able to get to it first and clean up the glassThe door clasp is poorly designed and failed to keep the jar in place as they don’t close correctlyI could quite easily have had two seriously injured dogsPlease advise

This might be a fab product if the catch works but mine is loose and not holding, so i have to put some wire to hold it to close

Finally I’ve found something to stop those determined squirrels from eating the entire peanut butter. It doesn’t fit all containers - I’m using the Flutter Butter pods and it’s loose inside but the birds done care. Also the lid does occasionally unclips so it might eventually need securing but I’m happy with it and the birds love it. It is supposed to be fixed to a fence I think but it’s just as easy to hang up.

Great idea, PB jar fits perfectly, but my northern Virginia birds ignore it!! They go to every other feeder, but not this one. Guess I will just put it on the ground, open the front, and let the squirrels have at it.

Der Tipp eines vorhergehenden Rezensenten, die Tür offen zu lassen, war für den Anfang super. Nach zwei Tagen gehen die Meisen völlig angstfrei rein. Als das Türchen plötzlich geschlossen war, guckten sie etwas irritiert, gingen aber trotzdem rein.Die großen Vögel, z.B. Tauben, werden nun ferngehalten - das funktioniert.

Met de vorige pindakaaspot houder aten de Eksters en Kauwtjes bijna alles op en kregen de musjes en meisjes weinig of niets. Met deze houder kunnen alleen de kleinere volgens bij de pindakaas. Probleem opgelost.

Product was back ordered initially - but we patiently waited for delivery. Huge disappointment when squirrel proof bird feeder arrived - it's dollarstore quality. I would not recommend to others.
