The birds aren't eating the thistle from it
I don't know what the problem is. Àre the holes too small? I've had it for weeks. I got it so it would accomodate more finches. I read they needed it in the summer.

Birdfeeder
The feeder was great and easy to put together. The feeder holes were too small for the birds so I had to enlarge them. Good quality

Just ok
We had to replace our finch feeder & I liked the look of the copper on this one. I have to say it's a bit flimsy compared to others we've had. Also - we had to enlarge the holes so that birds could actually get the seeds out. So - just ok.

Finch Feeders
After feeding many finches over the years, when in a tree, the feeder wasn't touched. Could be the holes are too small for beeks for birds to get food.Other feeder I have is more sufficient. Yes uses more food but works and attracts more finches of all colors. Yellows of New Jersey, reds, dark blue etc.

Metal Thistle feeder
Was excited to get this and add to my other bird feeders. Very well constructed and holds a lot of thistle. The holes were a little to small for the birds to get the seeds out. I did check to make sure I used the right seed. I took it down to make the holes a little bigger to see if that would help and seems to have made a difference and they are now eating from it. It looks great and is well constructed. Love watching all the birds sitting at the feeder now.

Gets the Job Done
Do me a favor, read the description. Then, if you aren't sure what nyjer or thistle is, look it up. I see ratings on here saying the holes are too small for the seeds, well the holes are small... but not too small for nyjer seeds (which are very small to start with). There are different feeders for different seeds and for different birds, this is a finch feeder that holds tiny nyjer seeds. With that said, this is a pretty decent feeder. It's tall enough for several perches and is light enough to hang without risk of falling. The seed tube is made of clear plastic and while it is a bit flimsy and cheap feeling-- it still holds up just fine. The copper cap and base are a nice touch that adds a bit of flair and color to the feeder. I believe there are six perches altogether and each one is metal and bolted in pretty well. This feeder holds a good amount of seed, and i had finches feeding within a day or so. So far the hanging hook thing has held very well without too much swinging or flopping around in the wind. It hasn't fallen either, so that's always a plus too. We have a lot of birds in my neighborhood, despite being in the heart of the city, and it's always fun to watch them while eating breakfast in front of my living room window... this feeder keeps them coming!

The holes are WAY too small
I've had this feeder up for over a week and birds will land but they can't find the holes to get food out because they're way too small. These are finch birds, not larger birds. I just went ahead and made the holes bigger myself to see if they will feed off of it. Otherwise, I'd tell people DON'T BUY IT!
