Q: How long does the toner last in terms of time for someone that prints rarely? Will the toner dry out or become unusable in some way after some time?

Toner is not the same thing as ink, and it cannot dry out. It is actually a finely powdered wax. Laser printers generate a static electricity charge on the paper that causes toner to stick to it. They then run the paper through a hot roller called the fuser that melts it permanently into the paper. As for the lifespan of the cartridge, you must refer to the advertised page yield. The TN-760 is rated for 3,000 pages, which is an approximated average you can expect. If you keep your printer and its cartridges in a cool air conditioned environment and never allow them to be exposed to high temperatures or humidity, then it should last many years. Temperatures over 100 degrees in particular can drastically reduce the life of the toner because it is made of wax.

No, this toner will not work with the MFC-L2700DW printer. This printer uses the TN630 or TN660 toner.

To try to make you buy Brother cartridges, when you may be perfectly happy with lower print quality for half the price with refilled ones (some of which are great, some not, they need to empty the waste-toner chamber or it will leak). Raises the price of refills by requiring 3rd party R&D to clone the chip. 2. Might let the printer keep track of the toner level in multiple cartridges, for what good that is.
