We bought this primarily for filling the sand bags on our beach canopy. And for it to also live in my truck to keep handy. The metal finish is very slick and makes cutting into the ground easy. The serrated edges help cut thru roots easily. We will use this for camping as well. Very sturdy and well made. The handle is very comfortable to use as well as the flanges in the shovel head. It's a really nice looking shovel as well.

The is exactly the compact size shovel that I’ve been looking for to carry on hiking, mining adventures. It’s not so small and weak that you cannot pry stones up. Nor is it so big that it’s a hassle to lug up the trail. It’s good quality and will last many years.

The shovel is the right size for working in a small garden or flower bed. Light weight is a plus.The only negative was the edge of the shovel was rolled over due to sharpening only one side ( that is why the 4-stars), it was fixed by filing the back edge.

I dug out the entire perimeter of my crawl space with this shovel and it worked great. Very durable
