Little bump for that room you love to sit in
I paid $328 and some change after taxes. So I got a deal. This sub is okay. Is it worth $300-$400? That’s the golden question.I’m going to go cons first.1. Sub sounds flat, not real punchy2. Speaker is exposed underneath the cabinet.3. No EQ adjustments4. The cabinet is huge!Pros1. XLR In/Out pass through are way nice.2. Was able to go from my PC 1/8” jack to dual XLR.3. XLR support from the sub to my studio monitors4. Fils the rooms with some good house bass. All kinds of music and movies sound great through it.5. Price point isn’t too bad6. Quality of the cabinet is very nice

Amazing subwoofer to pair with JBL 308s! Must have if you're producing with a lot of sub bass.
I got mine for 25% off refurbished/used.I had a presonus monitor subwoofer before this and it just wasn't hitting the lows the way I wanted, rattled at low volumes even.I was actually thinking of returning it because I realized I impulsively bought this thing when I already have a sub. Once I plugged it in to at least try it, I knew I couldn't go back to the presonus. If you only have TRS cables you'll need to get an adapter for the output channels (XLR to TRW) . Input works with TRS or XLR.I have a pair of Jbl308 monitor speakers with my setup and these are the perfect pair and how it was meant to be. The crossover sounds so damn smooth after adjusting the boundary EQ accordingly. With those speakers the low pass on the subwoofer set to the lowest (80hz I believe) sounds best. The subwoofer works as a pre amp for the other monitor speakers. As soon as I swapped the presonus sub with this one immediately saw a HUGE difference with my jbl 308 monitor pair. It was much much clearer and louder. I did not even realize how much the presonus was diminishing the capabilities of the other monitor speakers in my setup.I am producing dubstep/edm and music where sub bass is very important and I need to hear the lowest lows without distortion or rattle. this thing has made it so much nicer to work on it. You can truly hear the sub bass very very clearly, allowing me to adjust the sub bass and add subtle textures/harmonics and really be able to mix/master and do sound design with ease especially with long sustainer sub basslines. Kicks sound absolutely amazing well. Before with the presonus I didn't get a real good feel for how percussion/kicks sounded... But with this you can really hear the subtle differences.I was worried it'd be too big to go under my desk but it fits better than the 8" presonus thanks to the higher placement of cable ports. No matter what you're making these are amazing speakers, but I think if you're making rnb or edm especially music with long sustained bass that needs to be sidechained with kicks, and fine tuned these are a must have. Don't go with a cheaper option, this is worth the extra money easily.

Excellent General Use Computer Speakers for Non-Professionals
I don't usually review many products, but these speakers are so exceptional I had to take a moment. I am not an audio professional, or audiophile, and don't pretend to be. I bought these for computer use. I had Klipsch 2.1, the old ones, but subwoofer appears blown, and new ones cut corners on quality (imagine a corporation doing that, color me shocked, LOL). I bought used Logitech 623 2.1s, they have good bass, and are fine for most pop music and rap, with robust thumping bass, but their upper and mid is brutal on any remotely sophisticated music where you want to hear something besides bass or a synthesizer. Klipsch had 2 speakers, one for highs, one for mids, in each satellite speaker, M623 only had one speaker.I ordered these after serious research, and am blown away. The clarity of sound is astounding. I feel like the piano or violin or guitar is being played right next to me. I keep them permanently on 7 volume, adjust with computer, madcapped volume totally sufficient for my computer, and obviously much bigger and more powerful than most smaller 2.1 sets. Without a sub, that thump for some rap gone, but this is not a product deficiency, I'm going to pony up for sub now that know these are awesome.I noticed a significant, massively, improvement in sound quality placing them on stands. I bought the IsoAcoustics ISO-L8R155. Insanely overpriced, the stands, but didn't see any other options I liked. Don't even think of buying these without stands. The difference is astounding.I was really on the fence about shelling out about $275 for two speakers, by the time you pay tax and shipping. I got the Logitech $40 used on Craigslist. These were worth every penny, and would be even if they cost $100 more. The clarity and purity of the sound is almost impossible to overstate, versus even really good computer speakers. These speakers actually made me go back and listen to tons of music hadn't heard in awhile just to appreciate the richness of voices and instruments. One final note, I had a buddy in college decades ago who had JBLs blow on him, and they replaced them. That stuck out in my mind all these years later, when Klipsch unfortunately began cutting corners and selling inferior products. The tech guy at JBL Pro was super knowledgeable, and I feel like that factored into the decision a bit.Do not hesitate to buy these for computer use. They are worth every freaking penny and you will not regret the decision. You'll find room on even a small desk, and be happy you did, LOL. I might have gotten the 6" speakers, as they don't cost much more, If I had it to do over again, and will probably get the 8" for my home.Just to beat it to death, the clarity of the sound, the purity, the truth of it, is almost impossible to overstate. I am listening to John Denver, after Bruno Marrs, after Mariah Carey, after Benzino and NWA, and simply can't ever go back to cr$ppy 2.1 sets after just a few days of these.

Powerful and clean sound
Despite its outdated iPod-like interface, the 708p has outstanding dynamic range, solid bass down to <40hz, and pinpoint imaging. Useful DSP with multiple bands of PEQ and works with pro and home audio signal levels.
