It works well
Ok so I've had this for a few weeks and it works well. A simple unit with a good quality Toroidal Transformer and not much else. The internal connections are good, and straight forward and there is virtually no electronics inside other than the transformer. It does have a light and a USB outlet but these are not needed to make it work. So reliability and durability is good, the front meters are not totally accurate and may be off by a bit. But the power coming out is within specs. It will not clean up the power since there are no other electronics or filter circuit inside. It would be nice to have a meter showing the incoming power in addition to the the outgoing power. I dont load this thing up so I dont really have a buzz or hum that could be if you run a lot of power through it. Even then there are things that can be done to mitigate the noise. It also only has a light to tell you the incoming power is plugged in. All in all it fits my needs perfectly and is a good solid converter that is very simple and very quiet with a very little extra draw on the power to achieve the power conversion from the converter itself. So power loss because of the unit itself is almost non existent. I wish it would switch incoming power automatically rather than having to flip a switch but it keeps the cost down and reliability up. This unit is not something you would want to tote around, its heavy. But if you need reliable power conversion I can recommend this unit.

Voltage conversion from 220 50 Hz to 110 v 60 hz
I used this voltage converter in Europe and it performed exactly as intended. I ran a large microwave, vacuum cleaner, and juicer with no issues whatsoever. Excellent build quality and reliable voltage conversion that fully met my needs

AWESOME UNIT it runs my minisplit 27K
I use this unit as a cheap way to convert 120 to 240. I rewired the unit for my RV to install a minisplit that is make 3000W. Note the wire inside was very much undersized for 45amps. I replace most of the wire and insured the power went directly into the transformer instead of looping through each outlet first with is totally crazy. Really all I was looking for was the transformer inside the rest of the unit is OK and I liked the metal housing. I removed the rear breaker (cause I already have my own 30 amp breaker) and the switch to go between 120 and 240 input. I also cut holes into the metal and installed conduit. I found after my rewire the displayed voltages are off from what is really going in but they are close. I left the front breaker as a disconnect. The packaging works well to strap it down in my RV. Works really well if looking to put a 240V mini split into an RV that really only does 110V.

Dangerous Wiring and Not Setup to Handle 5000VA.
It came with a wire loose inside the unit. The LED wire was just floating around near the AC lines which is dangerous if they touch. The unit is rated for 5000VA but doesn't have wired sized appropriately to hit that rating. The transformer has a pair of 14AWG windings but only connected to a single 14AWG wire to connect to the power outlets and inlets. This limits the current to 15amps or 1800w at 120v. 240v output is not relevant since it is limited at 15amp inputs current which would still be 1800w. I read that it was an auto transformer so I gave it a shot since I wanted to use it for converting 30amp 120v at camp sites to 15A 240v to run a 3500w induction top while camping. I would have to open up the transformer to upgrade the single 14AWG wire to 10AWG to handle the current properly. I am debating if I should rework the transformer or just return the unit.

This transformer is dangerous and a fire hazard. I was having lots of issues with it tripping up my fuses until I found out that it does not abide to electrical standards. When you connect the multimeter to the Neutral connection and Ground, the reading should be 0 (Zero). However, it came up as 220V! Really, really bad. I even got shocked a couple of times because the neutral wire was live!!!! This transformer should be excluded from Amazon and from all online shopping. It will kill someone someday or catch a boat/house on fire.

I brought my 1963 American Singer sewing machine and modern Cuckoo 3-cup rice cooker to Europe when I moved without realizing I'd need not just a plug adapter, but a full-on step-up/down voltage converter transformer to reduce European voltage of ≈220v to ≈110v. What happens when you try to use appliances with the wrong voltage? My rice cooker's settings couldn't be accessed correctly---stove-top rice for weeks :-( ---and creepily enough, once I stepped on my sewing machine's pedal, it tried to keep sewing by itself even when I held the flywheel; even when plugged in but not in use, the higher voltage heated up the motor and burned the casing. I'm lucky it didn't burn out the motor completely. Lesson learned! While this transformer is expensive, large, and heavy, it does exactly what I need it to do, which is handle surges of power use like when the rice cooker starts a cooking cycle, does it quietly thanks to its toroidal core, and allows me to step up or down with the flip of a switch (in the back) should I need to power a European device back in the US. There were cheaper models, and smaller ones, but this machine had all the specs I needed, and frankly, the handle on the top of the transformer helps me transport it when I need to. All in all, well worth the investment to keep multiple sentimental appliances from the US working. PRO: - Steps up and steps down - Toroidal core is nearly silent - Gives you a readout in front to show when power use changes - Power switch (blue) is in front for easy access - Handle on top for transporting CON: - Heavy - As large as a small kitchen appliance, so it'll take up counter space - €50±, which is as expensive as buying a new appliance that doesn't need a transformer
