Only as an exercise. It doesn’t know your swimming so it can’t calculate the distance. Hope this helps?

Buying this product for an elderly person. can you use this without connecting it to a smart phone? he doesn’t have a smart phone or internet. also, how long is the strap for both small/medium and the large garmin? thanks.

To me, it feels as though you only get limited information on the (really rather small) display face - eg number of steps. (I've only just got mine so am not sure how much else you can gather from the device alone. The last answer suggests it's quite a lot.) I'd be worried that, without sync to the graphics and display charts and whatnot, it might feel like a rather expensive and hard-to-read pedometer. (I bought it because I have no smartphone, but, with a separate ANT strick, have been able to sync with my PC. But if the user doesn't even have this access, I'd question its value. ) On the US site it says that small/med fits wrists of circumference 122-188mm and large 148-215mm.

Can you use this when weight lifting to tell you thw calories burnt during the session?
