' When he turns, I see his eyes. There's a sense of surety in them, a sense of danger, a sense of entitlement and definitely, arrogance.' Daksh and Aanchal meet under improbable circumstances in the most unlikely of places-a posh resort in the Andamans. While Aanchal is fighting hard to escape the shackles of a lower middle-class existence, Daksh is aimless and unsure of what his future holds. Strangely, they are drawn to each other. 'My gaze drifts to her exposed back, and the tiny knot that secures her shimmering choli in place. Emotions of anger mix with a strange desire in me.' Four years later, when they meet again, Daksh's world has crumbled around him. The burden of caring for his sick father and six-year-old sister has left him with little time for anything else. Yet, despite their diverging paths, Daksh and Aanchal find themselves reconnecting in unexpected ways. Their mutual attraction deepens. Till now, fate has been pushing them together, but what will happen when they decide to take matters into their own hands? Will life be as they've imagined, or will destiny take even that away from them? Review: As always DD's Fan. - DD's latest release, 'World's Best Girlfriend' in 2023, is an absolute gem. Review: Give a try interesting book - "The World's Best Girlfriend" by Durjoy Dutta is a heartwarming and engaging novel that explores the complexities of relationships and the power of true love. the language is very easy to understand. This book is written about the friendship, love, and relationships of Daksh and Aanchal. The story is beautifully woven, and every character is well placed. Aanchal is an ambitious girl who wants to achieve a lot at a very young age. She has a boyfriend named Vicky, and their relationship is sometimes good and sometimes very bad. Eventually, she meets Daksh on her lucky draw trip to Andaman, who is an upper-middle-class Dubai resident and is handsome and responsible, just like every girl wants. Their story begins from there. After 4 years of the trip, when they meet again, Daksh has changed a lot, but Aanchal comes back into his life. However, Aanchal, being an ambitious girl, chooses her career over love. Daksh, being Gaurav's business partner, cannot completely sever their connection. Three years later, when they meet again at Aanchal's friend Vinneta's wedding, the story takes a new turn. Durjoy has ended the story in suspense, so we have to wait for the next part to know what happens. There is also a new character in this story, Amruta Thakur, who is Daksh's close friend in the end, or maybe something more."

A Tale of Love Story in which Destiny plays its role!
In the past few years, I’ve gravitated more towards Historical Fiction and Period genres, but when I picked up World's Best Girlfriend by Durjoy Datta, I realized how much I missed reading Romance Fiction. After finishing this book, I became even more certain that Bengali authors, especially Durjoy Datta, have a unique way of capturing the essence of romance in India. The story follows Aanchal Madan and Daksh Dey, two people who meet at a luxurious resort in the Andamans. Their connection is instant, but their lives and goals are vastly different. Aanchal is driven, determined to escape her lower-middle-class background and build a better future, while Daksh is more focused on living in the moment, with little direction. Unlike most love stories, Aanchal and Daksh’s relationship isn’t just about overcoming obstacles to live happily ever after; their pasts and dreams for the future constantly pull them in opposite directions, and that’s where the conflict lies. What I loved most about this book was how practical the story felt. Durjoy has beautifully blended love with the realities of professional life, showing how both can affect one another. The story spans years, with the characters evolving, and then fate bringing them together again. Despite the connection, their differences still pull them apart. Aanchal’s character is so well-written—she’s both vulnerable and strong, ambitious yet yielding, always trying and sometimes giving up. Daksh, on the other hand, evolves from a carefree young man into a more responsible adult, and this transition feels so real. It’s something we all go through as we grow. This isn’t just a love story—it’s about life, the challenges of adulting, and how love fits into it all. Durjoy Datta does an excellent job of portraying all these aspects. The end of Part 1 doesn’t have a cliffhanger, which I actually liked—it was wise and logical. But, of course, I’m still eagerly waiting for what happens next in Aanchal and Daksh’s journey. The way their relationship unfolds feels so realistic, and the chemistry between them is palpable. Fate has brought them together, but what happens when they take control of their own destiny? It’s a story of love, life, and everything in between.

A much needed light read.
It is a beautiful tale exploring modern day complexities of life faced by individuals with respect to relationship, family, career and life, in general. We often tend to neglect the weight of the impact of these decisions on our life which is well highlighted through Anchal's character. Also, I really like how friendships are so well underlined as coping mechanisms in the book which we tend to have forgotten nowadays. Be it Vanita's and Anchal's confident female friendship or Gaurav and Daksh's circumstamcial one, the book very well highlights how having just one friend by our side make life easy. Ofc, goes without saying that the second part is eagerly awaited but until then, will cherish this one! Thank you Durjoy for writing a beautiful tale!

one time read
It is a nice love story which can be read once. Daksh seems like a character too good to be true. Managing sister as her dad, being a dad to this father and completely going into self sacrificing mode every single time. Coming to Aanchal’s decision, i think it was a practical one and what works best for everyone. They were just 23 after all. Daksh says he will care for their child once she had delivered but does he not already have more than enough on his plate? Also in my experience motherhood is a lot different from fatherhood. Both cannot be started unless one is fully dedicated to fulfilling it. So I think showing Aanchal in a negative light was not really fair. Maybe in the next part Daksh realises this and makes it up with Aanchal and not the later suffering for the decision she took all that time ago. They were neither married nor aiming to procreate so I think no one should make such a big deal out of her decision.

LOVE
Daksh & Aanchal From morning to late night, these two kept me hooked to the book. In one day I finished it (feeling proud & sad at the same time). About the book, I just devoured the story. In the beginning i enjoyed how daksh was falling in love slowly slowly &he is such a cutie. In middle, I was bawling my eyes out for daksh, getting angrier at Vicky and supported Vanita for hitting Vicky more. In the near end, I was giggling like a child for the couple's chemistry. Butttttt at the end, my heart broke again for daksh. I think I was mad at Aanchal more. But like an angel, author @durjoydatta announced it would have a part 2 book. Yippeeeeeee. Waiting and aging for the next book. Please release it soon author. I don't know what I would do if they don't end up together in the next book.

Brilliantly written
Amazing book with an amazing story. Very well written. Perfect choice of words. I would definitely recommend reading it. My words won’t be enough to describe how good it is. Might seem like over exaggeration through this review but trust me it is worth it. Thank you.

Durjoy Being Durjoy
As the title suggest, by now you might have gotten an idea that I love his way of writing. This one is absolutely a beautiful journey. Once you are done reading first 30-40 pages, it feels like that you just want to finish the rest in one go, so that’s the warning I wanted to give. If you like his other works, then go for it, you will not regret it. And if this is going to be his first book that you are going to read, then go for it, if you like writers such as Nicholas Sparks
