Love it!
Yes, there’s a learning curve, yes you will have to practice, yes it’s awkward at first but being a child of the 80’s where we sat at our vanities for hours with our aqua net, teasing comb and heated hair rods, I was ok with that. The first one I purchased didn’t have an adjustable heat setting and it burned my hair so bad I had to cut it off. But, I liked the way it curled so I decided to give it another shot when they came out with the adjustable temperature feature. Works great and I use it several times a week now with no crispy ends. The only thing I would say needs changed is the power button. Yes it has an auto off feature now but you can’t turn it off with the button. I won’t leave it on when I’m done so I have to unplug it every time. No big deal but would like to have had the option to turn it off with the button.

Excellent tool - disappointed in customer service
I typically don’t leave reviews like this. I tried to work things out with customer service via email to no avail. I’ve been a customer since 2015. Once you figure out how to use it, the iron works really well, and I don’t like using anything else. I’ve purchased two irons and a hair dryer from tyme. My first iron lasted roughly 6 years. I bought a second one in 2021 and just recently I plugged it in, it no longer heats and the light just flashes. It had just been working the day before. I was hoping customer service would work with me since I had to buy a new one. I was offered 10 dollars off. I didn’t expect to receive a free iron by any means, but I though they would have done more than offer 10 dollars off my third iron. It says on the website the irons should last 5-10 years and the one that quit working was around 2 years old.

Overall good. Pulls a little
Works as described yet the plates don't seem very smooth and feels like they are damaging my hair. Hard to tell but it doesn't feel right.

Learning curb
I’ve tried, watched tutorials and can’t get my hair to curl at all. Will keep trying and update the review once I’m able to create the curls.

New Review
The first couple tries I could not get a curl no matter what. I was so frustrated I requested to return the product. However, I kept trying after a few days and tonight, I finally got nothing but curls! I watched a few videos, but I wasn't listening to what they were saying. It truly isn't that hard. We make it hard. If curling, don't close the barrel all the way. Loosen it up. Place the hair in the barrel and rotate it, then SLOWLY bring it down at an angle. I was making it way harder than it had to be! So thankful I didn't return this iron. Apologies for the bad review I left. User error. I am in love now. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

Not worth it
Honestly was so hype about this iron but it is so difficult to use. I literally watched 20 videos on how to use it and it doesn’t work like it says it does. At least on my hair. Not worth the money

Give it a try! I’m glad I did!
I saw Facebook ads for this item for 2 years. I watched YouTube video after video. I never really could justify the cost until my faithful 10 year old InStyler began showing its age. After seeing many reviewers say that the newer models of the InStyler couldn’t hold a candle to mine, I decided to take the leap and buy the Tyme Iron and keep my beloved InStyler for occasional use. Here’s the deal - every type of curling tool has a learning curve to it. I’ve used the standard curling iron, my InStyler, two different curling wands, and now my Tyme Iron. Each tool took practice and my hair looked jacked up until I got the hang of it. Each tool required different motions and technique. The Tyme Iron is no different. It’s clear just by looking at it that it’s going to work differently than other curling tools, so going into this assuming it’s going to take the same technique will lead to disappointment. The technique needed to achieve curl is for the most part one-handed. That in and of itself takes some adjustment. I found that the YouTube videos put up from Tyme itself were more helpful than most of the reviews and tutorials out there from the general public. My first time using it, I struggled a bit but I was able to see curls starting to form. With another couple of videos I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong, and now I’m able to get ringlets! I was also able to figure out how to do my daughter’s hair with it. It definitely does take me less time to curl all of my hair and I get a kick out of watching each piece of hair spring into a curl once it slips out of the iron! I also found that it gives me wider curls and more body than my faithful InStyler, and it requires less twisting and turning of the wrist.Long story short, yes there’s a learning curve but all types of curling tools are different and require a different technique. Don’t let that discourage you from giving this a try.

DO NOT GIVE UP
I had literally 6 different size curlers and one straightener prior to ordering this. I wanted one for years but the price was a bit much. I finally decided to dive in and get it and the first handful of times using it I HATED IT. My hair was not curling easily.. it just was not working.Luckily I didnt give up. I kept trying (even if I meant I would end up putting my hair in a bun after) till I eventually starting getting the technique down and noticing the I was slowly but surely using it better and better. After NUMEROUS attempts I finally am in love with this iron. It gives my hair the perfect amount of curl and saves me sooo much time from the traditional curlers. It took awhile but definitely worth the effort as I now curl my hair more to give it some volume and do it with ease and in about 15 minutes. (my hair goes down to the bra on my back to give you some idea on length)
