D'Addario Accessories XLR8 String Lubricant/Cleaner

Product is exactly as described. Used it for the first time today and it works great. Really cleaned the strings, which are brand new, and left them feeling smooth and shiny. Will definitely purchase again when needed.

D'Addario is a really good and trusted brand and this string lubricant/cleaner works well. It is a small, plastic container with an applicator similar to what you might see in a shoe shine kit to polish your shoes (if anyone does that anymore :). Anyway, I like it because it makes the strings smoother and less squeaky on my acoustic guitar strings for chording and finger picking. This jar lasts only about a few months and I didn't realize at the time you can re-charge it with a small bit of mineral oil.

Everything’s fine overall. The only issue is that after just one use, by the second time the sponge already felt dry—as if it didn’t have enough lubricant anymore.

My fingers eat strings, literally. If I had the money I’d change them all weekly for how quickly they corrode. This stuff really does work as advertised. Works great on both electric or acoustic strings for not on conditioning, but smooth the playing is. Wish I woulda found it sooner!

Great lube, easy to use, lasts a LONG time (if you keep putting it back in the container and closing it tight).

I don't know how long the chemical on the applicator lasts. After awhile when I guessed that the chemical in the applicator was depleted, I saved the applicator and the plastic container. I use "Finger Ease" spray string lubricant, which I like better than this product. I will spray the Finger Ease string lubricant onto this applicator and then apply it directly to the guitar strings in order to lubricate them but avoid getting string lubricant spray all over my guitars.

Small little carrying jar that is real sturdy for just this string cleaner. But was a great price. And size doesn't matter because it covers the job it needs to do. Easy on you can tell the difference. Just remember to rub in on then wipe off so that that slipperiness is there. Slide up and down the neck with ease on your strings now while longer life and maybe even some brightness back to those grimmy strings. If not wiped down after put on it with seem sticky and you will miss the slidablity.

Bought this as it seemed impossible to get my hands on a (normally priced) can of GHS Fast Fret, which I've been using for 20 years. This D'Addario sponge system works pretty well, but it dries out fast (even when always putting the cap back on and without a lot of usage). It's not Fast Fret, but you could do worse.
