This was very good value for money. I bought it primarily for flattening oil and whetstones rather than directly for chisel, plane irons etc. This means that I can go to a much finer grit than the 300/1000 if I want to. The size 3 x 8 is ideal for this. However, when I did have a go at an old 2 1/4" plane iron it worked beautifully. I would recommend getting the Trend lapping fluid too - makes a real difference in the time spent and does not rust the plate.

Great product

This doesn’t compare to the cheap Chinese version. It’s just great. Perfectly flat, generous size, consistent abrasive surface that doesn’t come off or wear away like the cheap ones, good heavy weight. It comes with a non-slip mat, but I would have preferred a permanent rubber base as I leave it on the bench ready to use. 1000 grit and 300 grit are good choices, just needs a leather strop for a complete solution. Nice one Trend!

My first foray into a proper diamond bench stone, and I have not been dissatisfied. The 300 grit addresses any dinks swiftly whilst the 1000 is ideal for honing. I use the Trend lapping fluid because it invalidates their warranty if used with other products. So yes, not the cheapest but a really nice stone.

Bought this on special offer, worth it at this price point the same stone is available branded by other people for less money...

I bought this thinking that Trend was a reliable brand, and I’ve used it a couple of times on some of my smaller chisels which regularly need a new edge on them - seemed excellent! But then I used it on a couple of hand plane blades ( 1 3/4” & 2”) and noticed they’ve left a concave edge across the end of the iron, and about 1mm lower at each edge so not a small amount! Had to spend an entire afternoon putting brand new edges on each of the irons. Very frustrating. Feel like I’ve wasted a big chunk of money with this one.

Excellent quality stone, great size and flatness. I've mounted mine to resist slipping, and use it for sharpening planes and chisels. Very useful, along with the fluid. I got it for a good price too.

It's wide and great for sharpening plane blades. There is no notable high spot and provide decent finish.

Affilatura rapida ed efficace. La grana è 300/1000 quindi non aspettatevi una cosa professionale ma per hobbisti va più che bene. L’affilatura risulta buona specialmente per legno dolce.
