How to Play Go: A Beginners to Expert Guide to Learn The Game of Go: An Instructional Book to Learning the Rules, Go Board, and Art of The Game (Card Games for Beginners) Paperback – August 22, 2017

I am very happy to find a book on the game of go for English speakers. This is traditionally an Asian game but has gained much interest lately in the West. I have been interested in finding a go board and learning to play. Now I have the how to book so now its time to find a good board set I like! The book was shipped and arrived within the time frame expected and in excellent condition.

A nice, inexpensive introduction to the game of Go. Would have been nicer if it had more informationon the strategy of the game.

A simple and straighforward book of "GO" instructions, Thank You.However, when a 10 year old Grandson is reading the book and CORRECTING his Grandpa, it can be just a bit disconcerting. Of course, we want our Children and Grand Children to prosper Better than we have. I take Benjamin's insight into the the game of "GO" with great pleasure.

This book is somewhat entertaining, but there are NO graphics to show the suggested moves. I assume the author wanted the reader to form a mental picture, but I found it distracting and had to go back and read over the text again to understand what he was talking about. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and this kind of proves that point. I'm trying to learn how to play GO but didn't find this book to be a lot of help.

Do not buy this book.If this were a mere historical account of the history of the game and its significance, a total pack of photographs or diagrams could be excused, but to have a book claiming to be a beginners guide with absolutely no visual aids is incredibly pathetic, but it's a waste of money.To make things worse, the formatting of the book itself is padded out to take up space like an 8th grader's end-of-term paper written the day before it was due, and like a last minute 8th grader's paper the work is riddled with typographical and grammar errors.What an embarrassment this book is and waste of anyone's time and money.If this were 30 years ago when there was virtually no information about this game published in English, this could have had some genuine worth, but these days anyone with a smart phone and a PC can edit together a video explaining the basics of this game better than this book does, and put it on YouTube for free consumption.A printout of the Wikipedia article on Go bound and sold as a book would have been a better value.

The above says it all. Worth while for the beginner... I would buy it again. I think that if you need to understand the basics, with this book you can not Go wrong :)...

Very happy with my purchase, the instructions are really clear and easy to understand. If you enjoy the game and want to become a better player or want to learn how to play, I would definitely recommend this book.

I'm still need to finish reading it

This is 35 page book with only text and no illustration. Only basic rules are clearly described; others are not clearly explained. There are also lot of typos in the book.We can get much more clear information freely from the websites and YouTube videos.The value of this book is less than one dollar.DON'T BUY

This book is only a few pages long, has no images and could probably be generated (chatgpt 30 min). This does not even get you to beginner, rather than expert. Title seems like a scam. But it was acceptable to read.

No diagrams. Is for beginners not experienced players. Big text, easy to read, but the lack of diagrams would make it confusing for beginners. (Unless they play it out on the board) Several spelling errors.

How can you write a book on how to play GO without a single picture or diagram? The small number of brief pages hasn't even been checked for spelling or grammar - I doubt whether the author spent more than about half an hour producing this book. If only I'd read the reviews! The only good thing is it made me see which books on GO others were recommending and I have now bought 'GO a complete introduction to the game' by Cho Chikun, which I do recommend!

英語の勉強も兼ねて、囲碁に親しもうと思って注文したが、文章による説明だけで、碁盤の図が全然載っていないので、素人には、どのように碁石を置いて囲碁をするのか、何もわからない。これは不親切だ。　多少、囲碁がわかる人なら、わかりやすい英語なので、英語の勉強にもなるし、自分で碁石を動かしながら、あるいは、頭の中で碁盤をイメージしながら、読むことができるかも知れないが、初心者には、それができないので、本書によって囲碁を学ぶことはできない。
