Ignore my previous comments, junk is junk however well it's labelled.
Initially I was pleased with this item and it performed perfectly well, however I feel recent events have prompted me to change my mind about it.I fitted a new motor to my lathe and wanted to check the original speed settings that I took. Imagine my surprise when the unit failed to function, the laser didn't work despite fitting (correctly) a new battery? As the unit is less than a year old and had only previously been used once I contacted the seller.... 3 times, and so far no response. Pretty poor customer service. Take my advice and shop elsewhere, the phrase "You get what you paid for" comes to mind.

Accurate, but not without issues
This digital tachometer accurately measures the speed of all the motors I've tested it with. It is easy to use, with no need to press the buttons multiple times in strange combinations to record and review measurements. For the price, it's a total bargain, but there is one niggle that bugs me: having to keep the buttons depressed to review the measurements. The moment you release the button, the display turns off. It would be better if it remained on for a few seconds. But for the price paid, I'll accept this shortcoming.

Inexpensive rev counter
I race 10th scale model cars and I wanted a inexpensive digital rev counterThis meter does this and is easy to use, all I had to do was make a disc to fit to the motor along with a small strip of reflective tape and away you go.I used a plastic lid of a coffee tin approx diameter of 75mm, glued a pinion gear ensuring it is in dead centre I found that painting the disc Matt black with the reflective tape gave more consistent readings

Quality control issues
Clearly have quality control issues. Mine arrived without the metal bit at the back of the battery compartment, rendering the whole thing useless. Would have imagined that's quite an easy omission to spot! Returned for a refund, and won't be buying another one from this brand

Good value
Good product for the money. It is well made. Takes a 9v battery. Comes with plenty of reflective tape. The only draw back is it can give random readings if your not very directional. I find if you take a few readings your end up with one or two inaccurate readings (easily identified because they are very random) but when you get consistent readings they are very accurate.

B stock?
Bought to replace one I had for more than a year . I blew it up by inserting the battery the wrong way. Fair enough my fault.Replacement Package looked to be previously opened. Laser was unfocused so I returned it and bought another. The third one was exactly the same as 2nd only this time it was more obvious that it was previously opened and the laser was unfocused. It does work but it's disappointing. BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING THE BATTERY.

Amazing value.
Checked it out measuring the chuck speed on my lathe - easy to use, reads accurately - have used a similar instrument years ago that cost hundreds of ££, this has the same functions and costs pennies.Just remember to remove the batteries when storing it to avoid the batteries going flat as most electronic gadgets trash the batteries when not in use.

Broke within 6 months of very occasional use
Broke within 6 months and only used a handful of times. The laser appears to have burnt out already. Only way I can get a reading is by shining a lazer pointer at what I am trying to measure in line with the unit. Bit disappointed really and I can't return it.
