Genuine satin weave (polyester), but still not the least bit satisfactory.
I couple of weeks ago I ordered another set of sheets from Amazon, sold by a different company, and those sheets turned out to be twill. Many people seem not to understand that both sating and twill refer to the weave, not to the material used to make the thread. These sheets are actually satin, however there are still a couple of issues and the bottom line is that they are not satisfactory in the least. With satin weave, the threads that run in one of the two different directions pass over the top of multiple threads running the other direction. Said differently, if you look at the threads that pass over another thread, you will observe that twice a many of them (at least twice as many) are threads running in the same direction. The preponderance of threads that pass over the top of other threads, on one side of the sheet, run in the same direction. This is the direction in which the sheet feels slick if you run your hand over it. It does not feel slick in the other direction, and there is no reason why it would. And on the other side of the sheet things are completely different, such that on the other side you end up with a dull appearance and a rough texture, even though the threads exposed on the other side are the very same threads! So what's wrong with these sheets? For one thing, the fitted sheet is turned the wrong way. It feels slick it you stroke your hand across it in the lengthwise direction, from head to feet or from foot to head. It does not feel slick if you run your had from side to side. It boggles my mind that the people who make this stuff, whatever far corner of the globe they are found in, do not understand that the satin sheet has an orientation, i.e., a slick direction, and that the sheet needs to be oriented so that the slick direction is from side to side, so that when you roll while sleeping, you can slide, so that the bed sheets don't grab you and prevent you from rolling, so that you don't wake up every hour or so during the night, or every time your sleeping brain decides that it is time to roll over. The fitted sheet would have been perfect if it had been cut in the proper direction, with the slick direction running from side to side. Because it is cut in the wrong direction, it is utterly useless to me. And I mean utterly, totally useless, because the only reason I would ever have considered a bed sheet made from polyester would be to get that slick satin feel, from side to side, not from head to toe. I tried to orient it the other direction but that effort was totally in vain. So the fitted sheet is utterly, totally useless. The top sheet is cut in the right direction. So I thought that maybe I could just sleep on it. The problem with this idea is that it isn't nearly big enough to tuck under anywhere, so it isn't going to stay put. Which means that it, too, is essentially useless.By the way, I really, really wish that people who write product reviews on Amazon would spend a little time doing a little bit of research so that they would have some idea what they're talking about when they write the reviews. The other thing is, not all polyester satin is the same. There's a numerical ratio for a satin weave. It can be 2:1, or it can be 4:1. This ratio is the number of adjacent threads in the other direction that threads in the slick direction cross over. For 2:1, the threads running in the slick direction pass over two cross threads, then under one cross thread, then over two cross threads, etc. For 4:1 satin, the threads running in the slick direction pass over four cross threads, then under one cross thread, etc. This leads to a big difference in how slick the fabric feels, in that direction, but has practically no effect on how slick it feels in the other direction. These sheets are 2:1 satin. The fact that they are 2:1 and not 4:1 may be the major reason that they don't feel all that slick, even in the direction where the are somewhat slick. Possibly, but I also wonder if the thread used was first subjected to that process that is sometimes applied to polyester, that is sort of like exploding the fibers, so that the fabric will feel softer, i.e., what is sometimes called "microfiber", which is just polyester where, prior to weaving, the thread was subjected to this process, which is a lot like causing the thread to explode. I suspect that the thread has been subjected to this process, and that while this might contribute to the feel of softness, it does not help in the attribute of slickness.I don't know what I'm going to do with these sheets. The problem is that if I keep them, I will never, ever used them. Not even once. And I've already got a stack of sheets and other bedding that I don't use, and haven't used in at least twenty years. Do I want to add these sheets to that collection? And what do I do now, for new bed sheets? I can't keep buying sheet sets from Amazon and returning them. I'm reluctant to order genuine silk satin, from Amazon or from anyone else, because it's obviously a crap shoot. This is very frustrating for me.

Great quality!
These satin sheets are wonderful! I bought the set with deep pockets which provides some extra room if you have a thick mattress or mattress pad. The sheets feel amazing on my skin! I have eczema/dermatitis so having something that is soft and stays cool is better for me. I know most people are aware but do not buy satin or silk sheets unless you are prepared to slip and slide. That is the only downfall but I think it’s worth it for the feels.

Surprisingly good for the price!
Very generous sizing - extremely deep corners. The 'silky' fabric is perfect for my partner who has Parkinsons as it helps him to slide in and out of bed a little bit easier when his legs are 'frozen'
