Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120
I have a pc build that I use only for flight sims. I had read some reviews on this cpu cooler and for the price I thought I would give it a try. The cpu cooler I currently have been using has been doing what I thought to be a very good job keeping my cpu temps around 58-60C under high loads. I received this newcooler via Amazon the day after I ordered it ( very fast delivery was a plus ). Installation for me took about 45 minutes because I tend to be a little more meticulous with installation and thermal paste application. I found the installation very easy ( I did not peel the tape off the metal backplate that holds the cpu cooler to motherboard ) to help ease cpu cooler being re-installed to a new motherboard in the near future. The temps of the cpu to my surprise have dropped under load approximately 10 degrees with this cooler. My old cpu cooler had 6 pipes and a single 135 mm fan and was very quiet. This new unit uses 2 x 120mm fans and is as quiet as my old one. Interesting part of this is that I am guessing from the increased air flow of the new cpu cooler, my graphic card temps have dropped around 4C also-- kinda cool addition to this ( literally ). Note---I did use Arctic MX-6 thermal paste rather than the included Thermalright paste as was the case with my old cpu cooler. This was installed in a Lian Li Lancool 216 mid tower case and had plenty of room to spare. Conclusion for anyone on the fence for an excellent air cooled cpu cooler, this unit should not disappoint. Great price, excellent design and construction and for all that a very fair price for what you get.Way to go Thermalright !! ---- also this is not a paid review and I am not affiliated with the company at all !

BEST VALUE AIR COOLER!
The before and after is insane this was the first cpu cooler upgrade for 4 year old pc which started to slow down in performance and increased temps for the CPU. I upgraded to a new case with more fans and decided to upgrade the air cooler too from the stock one on the second picture. The stock one is loud and doesn't disapate heat well making the room actually heat up and was loud as a vacuum.Installation was super simple box came with everything you need thermal paste, screws, backplate, etc. Instructions were clear with drawings on what to do and what sockets to use. After installation IT DROPPED TEMPS DRASTICALLY from getting 87° almost 90°C on full load CPU now Its below 60° increasing around 20 FPS. Very happy as I was in the 47fps average on Fornite Directx 12 high settings now I get about 70fps average. Noise levels are much quieter than my older cooler. The only possible con is the size. The cooler cleared the tempered glass by a little bit but if I purchased the model with the spikes on top it could not be installed. Also the RAM make sure you get low profile rams no rgb bs. Very pleased with the performance and is ready to be used for many more years to come.

Great Cooler, Great Price
Works well on overclocked intel CPU's. Quiet and comes with thermal paste.

Excellent Cooler, Weak Fans.
5 Star CPU Cooler. The only negative i can say is about the TL-C12C fans. They are weak. They are good for their value as case fans but not for radiator fans.Buy a pair of Arctic fans, either the P12 Max's or the P12 ARGBs.Even with the stock fans I have a 10c reduction in temperatureBetter fans will increase performance.

It works really well when its fan mounts don't lose grip on the heatsink
I'm coming from GamerNexus for their recommendation on best budget cooler of 2024. I've also seen talk from elsewhere about how Thermalright's CPU heat-sinks such as the Phantom Spirit series (120mm), especially the non-cut down versions can provide quite the adequate cooling. As this heatsink was measured to go up to at least 120 watts, it is still able to provide more than enough cooling for whatever CPU it gets properly seated onto.Right from the get-go of installation though, I've had issues with the fan mounts not staying firm in place as even moderate bumps to my desktop or desk is enough to loosen the fans from the heatsink. This would result in the fans being dropped onto the top of my graphics card as I have my desktop set up upright (which would actually clang against my graphics card's backside in this case, luckily having its own protective cover).Build quality, for its price at the time of purchase, was a nice touch to the item, although the thin fan mounts provided with the heatsink could've been designed better so it can be both fool-proof and resistant to constant shaking and rattling that could occur in the case of frequent meddling with the desktop's internals. The way that it had to be installed with large screws were an annoyance since you would need a screwdriver longer than the heatsink's height itself, but nonetheless was worthy to deal with given how many finstacks it has for extra cooling. Given the size of both the heatsink and the fans, I was able to fit it into my desktop with millimeters to spare. With how the heatsink was designed, I give it a plus as it had semi-tall RAM sticks in mind, at least with mine, providing just enough room to meddle with my RAM sticks in the case one or more of them starts having issues.Overall, I would say this cpu heatsink has done more than enough by my standards compared to my previously installed heatsink, but should improve upon its own faults and caveats. Given how not-so-sturdy the fan mounts are, at least with my heatsink, the item loses one star for that. It would have lost another if it weren't for performing slightly better than my previous heatsink, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black.
