For some time I had been looking to purchase an ultrasonic cleaner, primarily for those pieces of jewellery that tend to collect dirt and grime over the years, which is difficult to remove manually, (chains and bracelets especially). I also learnt that these cleaners can be effectively used for many other small items such as coins and spectacles etc.Having looked at mixed reviews on many of the lower priced products, I took the plunge and decided to pay a bit more for this German made Ulsonix Proclean unit, despite not seeing any reviews on it yet. I liked the fact that this company appeared to specialise in this type of product.The cleaner (shipped from Germany to UK) arrived within a few days, much faster than the estimated delivery date. It arrived well packed.I was very impressed with the way that it appeared to be very well made giving the feeling that it is designed to last and do its job.However the acid test was to try it out. Would this be just a gimmick or something that would deliver amazing results?With this compact machine, I had purchased some ultrasonic jewellery cleaning solution separately (from a more local supplier), which I used from the onset.Back to the acid test: Firstly it delivered brilliant results on a small gold bracelet that had some residues in the links, and that was after about 15 minutes of cleaning.Next, I took my heavy weight 30 year old 9 ct Gold neck chain which had never previously been professionally cleaned, and thus had substantial black residues in the links. These can always be removed with painstaking scrubbing, link by link, but that takes ages!For this piece of jewellery I left it in for a good 30 minutes of cleaning, initially adding a pre-warmed mix of tap water and cleaning solution.I was absolutely astonished to discover that upon completion of the cycle, this piece of jewellery was completely free of any dirt deposits. All of the black gunk had disappeared!Needless to say, this product has 100% delivered on results and has impressed me so much.A couple of points to note:On the longer cleaning cycle (say 30 minutes+ for the heavy chain), keep your eye on the actual temperature display. The ultrasound cavitation energy itself, pushes up the temperature of the solution without the need for the heater to kick in. This might be important for any items more sensitive to higher temperatures, though not a problem with my gold chain.Might need to experiment with cleaning solution concentrations, combined with the cleaning cycle time period. If not cleaned on first attempt, a longer cycle/stronger cleaning mix, will almost certainly resolve any issue.It is great that the machine has two temperature settings, one showing the required temperature (user inputs), and the second showing the actual current temperature. That enables better monitoring during more lengthy cleaning processes.Finally:For me, this product and its supplier/manufacturer gets a 10 out of 10 score, thank you.
