At home, I like to sleep with a fan on for the white noise it produces. I am a frequent cruiser. On a cruise ship, there are often only 2 outlets in the room and neither of them is close to the bed. For safety and fire prevention, the cruise line prohibits passengers from bringing extension cords or multi-plug outlets of any type. They do, however permit multi-USB ports to be brought on board. I needed a white noise machine that is powered by USB (not plugged in to the wall). It had to be small and compact for travel, yet powerful and loud enough to recreate the white noise of the plug-in fan I use at home. It had to be rechargeable and it had to hold a charge long enough to at least get through the night. This white noise machine has it all. With multiple sound options and volume control, I am able to select the white noise I prefer at the volume that suits me best. This powerful little white noise machine can be very quiet if preferred, yet it has the capability of being even louder than my plug-in fan at home if I wanted it to be. Fortunately with the volume controls, I am able to match the volume level I am accustomed to with my plug-in fan at home. This white noise machine easily fits in one hand and it is light weight, making it very convenient for travel. The charge lasts 1-2 nights before requiring re-charging. It comes with a 4-5 foot USB charging cable. For $25 this white noise machine was a great buy. It is an absolute must-have for cruisers and I highly recommend it!

I have both of these sound makers. The one with the light we’ve had for 2 years and it still works beautifully. Good durability, my 8year old is rough on things. He also takes it with him anytime he’s traveling and plans to sleep away from home. It can be a little finicky with using other chargers, but no issues if I use the one it came with. I bought the other one this week, it is also top notch sound quality, good variety of sound options and timer settings. The only down side is I wish the buttons on top were visible in the dark. It’s like playing Russian roulette trying to turn the night light on in the dark. I use it when my 2 week old wakes up for nighttime nursing. Of course I always hit the wrong button 100% of the time

This was a gift for my granddaughter who has difficulty getting to sleep. The sounds are soothing to her and helps her drift into pleasant and restful sleep. This was a winner.

ProsI like the thunderstorm sound. I like the volumes of how the different sounds are mixed together to make the thunderstorm sound. I tried a different sound machine and the rain sounded too loud and weird. I haven't used any other other sounds besides thunderstorm and sometimes waves so I can't speak to the others.I like the look of this one. I was concerned about using the buttons in the dark but I was easily able to memorize where the ones I need are. The little lights for the different lengths of time for the sound have a slight texture so I can figure out where the top is in the dark. Also, the button in the middle is bigger than the others.I typically set it to go off after 60 minutes but I sometimes forget. I have been using it for about a week and only charged it before the first use. I was concerned about having to remember to charge it but I also didn't want another cord by my nightstand. I'm happy that the charge is lasting nicely. I am presuming that if it's on but not playing the whole night it saves battery.I think it is a good value for the money but I've never used a $100+ sound machine so I can't say for sure.ConsI wish there was a battery level indicator so I will know when it needs to be charged before it's super low.I also wish it remembered the setting I choose so that it goes back to the sound and volume I like every time I turn it on.I wish it had a setting for just rain.Despite these things I would still recommend it because I like falling asleep to the sound of a quiet thunderstorm.I haven't traveled with it but it would probably be fine. If you travel outside the country you might need an adapter to charge it. Some sort of power converter. I live in the us and traveled to the UK with a light box and it needed to be plugged in with more than just an outlet converter.

Good variety of white noise and charge last for long long time

I have never had a white noise machine before, but I struggle with falling asleep and have cats that can be noisy at night. I have noticed this machine has helped me fall asleep quicker and if I wake up during the middle of the night with this machine on, I can normally drift back to sleep pretty easily. I just let it run the whole night without a timer.I like the different sound options. For me personally, I just use the white noise. I do not always pick the same white noise every night, I just cycle through the options before I am about to go to bed and see which one sounds the most relaxing. Surprisingly, it really varies which white noise I settle on.One of the reasons I bought this sound machine was I did not want a night light which it seems most white noise machines include. You do get a little white light if you choose the timer setting on this machine. But I do not notice any light if I don't choose the timer setting.It does have a tiny red light underneath when it is low on charge. Like other reviews, I did wish it came with a charger instead of USB port. It takes a long time to charge, about the entire day hooked up to my laptop. I know that would probably make the sound machine cost more money, so overall I am happy with the value and quality of my purchase.
