Bricky - Wall Building Tool

what a great product..even a novice can build professional looking walls with this.....I built a dwarf retaining wall in the garden...it looks so good that all my friends thought a proper bricklayer had built it...get one, you wont regret it and the best thing is you'll save £££££'s on bricklayer prices

I am a very keen DIYer and will tackle any job but the thought of laying over 1,000 bricks and 200+ blocks for our new conservatory worried me. Particularly when I wanted a professional looking finish and didn't want to pay the professional price tag.Like many others who had seen the TV ads and YouTube videos, I was a little worried that this would be another DIY gadget which would be used once then hidden in the garage or garden shed never to be used again.BUT.... I'm pleased to say that it works and works quite well.It will not turn you into a professional builder but it will allow you to build quicker, neater and more accurate. The instructions with the kit are pretty clear and I think it would be possible for a complete novice to produce a reasonable quality wall but I would suggest taking your time and maybe even build a "practice" wall before tackling the real job.The only issues I've found:1. The plastic pointing tool doesn't work too well, I used it to point up a couple of joints and then threw it away. I'd advise spending an extra few pounds and buy a proper stainless steel brick jointing tool from Screwfix2. The way the system works means you work in a left-to-right direction with the brickwork. This can be make laying the bed of mortar a little awkward at times3. Cavity wall spacing MUST be at least 65mm to accommodate the width of the large mortar tray4. Consistency and the wetness of the mortar is CRITICAL. Add a good quality plasticiser to the mix. (Do not add washing-up liquid!)5. The water absorption rate of the bricks can cause a few problems and make working with the system difficult. Found that dipping the brick in water or hosing the pile of bricks down with water before laying them helped a lotNot quite the full 5 stars.... if I could give it 4.5 out of 5 I would

Bought online 7pm one evening - was delivered before i got home from work the next day. Excellent tool, have done more (and better!) bricklaying on my new super-large koi pond in one weekend than I had been able to do in 2 weeks!

I am a serious diy addict and over the years have bought loads of helpfull kit but this is by far the BEST tool i have ever bought, it makes brick laying easy and the finish looks and is very professional, to have employed a brick layer to do the wall i needed building would have cost me a small fortune did it for a fraction of the cost well done Mr Marshall a winner with out a doubt.

Bought this and the brickie, this does seem to fit the bricks that well and isnt as flexible as you would like. Better than the brickie mate for the width of cement you lay. But not as quick. To be honest buying bith helped.

Delivery was excellent albeit confusing. Amazon suggested the likely delivery would be 10 days and it came two days after ordering so no one was in to receive it.As for the tool itself having watched the video over and over again I think I convinced myself that it was metal and robust thus my surprise when in fact it is hard plastic which makes me wonder how long it will last.I purchased this to do some brick work in the garden and it has not let me down. It did exactly what it said it would and I built my first wall that looks anything like decent. This wall is 4 course of brick high and it is my pride and joy but whether this tool will ever assist and enable me to build something like the garage it shows in the video is yet to be seen.
