It covers everything from the history of bodybuilding to anatomy, from workout plans to pre contest diets it's all in here. The book itself is huge and over 700 pages long, it's full of photos, pictures, anatomical charts and drawings. If you only ever buy one book about bodybuilding this is the one - Arnolds Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding is a masterpiece. 5 STARS * Review: great pump - I always wanted this one, I used to read it in bookshops and get a proper pump in my arm holding it up for 20 mins. The hardback was too pricey for me back then. Great read. Very inspirational and a lot to make you really think. Some of his views are maybe a bit un-scientific and unsubstantiated here and there but it obviously worked for him, but maybe not you! A must-read, though alongside other material of course, still good though, I don't think we know too much more, even now. Reassuringly a dab of mayonnaise and a smidgeon of butter is permitted in some of the meal plans even though it is on a banned list 2 pages later, whatever.

Great Book
A really informative and highly detailed book. I have only recently started out keeping fit(last 6 months) and trying to tone up, this book will provide loads of exercises, to many for me to try at the moment. but I can see this being a very usefully manual on how to do certain routines and focus on certain parts of the body. With the progress of time we can see that quite a lot of body builders have possibly pushed themselves to far, as quite a few seem to have heart problems. I won't be doing that level of punishment they used to do, but If one wishes to do this, this book will provide them with a great deal of help.

I also firmly believe that if steroids had never been discovered, the same bodybuilders would have inevitably emerged as the winners. Sucess in bodybuilding is more dependent on hard work and good genes than on use of any drug." Also keine Angst ;-) Insgesamt also eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

Great Book and a classic in the Body Building arena…I was 1st put on to Body Building back in the mid ‘80s from my uncle who was really into fitness. Since then I have adopted those traits and have been working out for nearly 20 plus years. There is a newer version of the book that all of the members of my team bought and I decided to go back and buy a used version of the original to compare the new one to. Aside from the updates the vision remains the same, as well as the principles that all basic body building adheres to. It’s good to see the old greats and the history of the profession in pictures and words. Body Building today is larger and way more defined but seemingly unattainable by the average fitness Joe. Yet books like these help keep me grounded in my goals and help me when I hit some rough patches in my workouts. I’m an all natural fitness persona who has the fitness philosophy of using fitness to be able to accomplish everyday normal tasks as well as the occasional extraordinary tasks that require more than the average 3 sets of 10-12 reps can attain. But I still follow the fundamentals; I will never be an Arnold, or a Franco Columbu, or a Sergio Oliva, but I admire them all – all the same.
