I've been using the NOYAFA Network Cable Tester extensively and I'm thoroughly impressed with its capabilities and affordability. I needed to replace my old toner/tester. I came across this one that a co-worked used.I love the functionality that it provides. I can check ethernet cables, tone, as well as a few other options that I don’t really use.Both feel good in the hand, and made well.The screen is easy to read. You select the test, and it shows you which connector to use. Both have rechargeable batteries. Like others have said, not all charging cables work. I opted to use the supplied cable. No issues so far.For the price, it’s worth it.

This is a great tool for every IT guy that has to deal with installing or troubleshooting cabling. It does the same as the more expensive 'yellow' brand. The only difference is that the yellow devices use only one connector for all functions and this one has four different ones for different functions, which can be a bit confusing sometimes, hence the 4 stars. It does indicate on the screen which connector to use, so that helps. The interface is a bit clunky, but once you get the hang of the buttons, it's not bad, so for the price, you can't beat it.

I do a lot of network support, but I don’t make my whole living from it. So I can’t afford $5000-$10000 tools from the big manufacturers.But I still need to check fibers and Cat 5/6 cables and this unit does both very well.In particular, having the optical power meter means I can plug in a fiber and quickly find out if light is getting through from the other end. I can also get a feel for how strong the signal is. I’m sure it is not calibrated precisely, but it tells me if the circuit is in good shape or if it needs work.For ethernet cables, it does simple testing to ensure all pairs are connected right—but that is common. This one also allows you to estimate cable length (TDR functionality).Better yet, you can use it to check if a cable is live, tell what speed got negotiated and even find out of POE (power over ethernet) is active. This is something I do all the time—a basic “is this live?” test. But before I got this, I had to bring along a computer with an Ethernet adapter dongle.The screen is color and is very clear. My only minor frustration is that it looks like it should be a touchscreen, but it’s not. You have to navigate using buttons. They never said it was a touchscreen, so it is fine.FYI, the most common kind of fiber jack/plug is called LC. This kit has a different jack on it called SC, so be sure to pick up a patch cable and/or adapter that converts from SC to LC. These are not expensive.

Purchase this as an all-in-one tool for quick tests on the field, but most of the features do not work correctly. First, I have no Idea why it uses so many different ports to do the same thing that other devises do with one. You will think is for accuracy, but you will be wrong. Which brings me to my biggest problem with this device, its not accurate at all.The cable length is off by over a foot when you can get it to read. Most of the time it will only read 2 or 3 out of the four pairs marking the others as bad. These are factory made cables, clearly marked, and verified with a Fluke MS2-100. I can understand a small variance from one device to another, but over a feet difference is a big discrepancy.The Flash feature to identify ports on switch will not work on newer Cisco equipment, what we use in our environment. The light on the port will come on for a couple of seconds and it will go away, never coming back. It would work properly on older devices.The PoE features do not give accurate readings. Assessed on different Cisco devices and the voltage was way off.And my biggest gripe with the device, the main reason I purchased it, the OPM reading. It is off by 1 dbm or more. I compare the readings to two other devices, a TM290T and a cheap YGGYM optical power meter. Both the TM290T and the YGGYM were giving me a reading on a single mode, 5m cable, of -6.4 to -6.1. The NOYAFA was giving reading between -7.2 to -7.6 reading.
