Well, well, well. Who knew Shakespeare was understandable?! At the ripe young age of 64 I developed a hankering to read the Bard. Doesn't matter that my niece had this book when she was 8 and I was reading OK magazine, I'm reading it now and 'stap my vitals!' is it good!I know now, fair men and maidens longer in tooth, that casting thine eyes on this tome will warm the cockles of the beating beast within thy breast. Turnest the pages without regret for I speak with truth upon my lips....'Tis worthy of thine dosh 😊

We bought this for my daughter. She was an avid reader at the time and always enjoyed illustrated editions. She enjoyed this thoroughly and has read it cover-to-cover many times. The stories are re-written in a way which is very accessible and the artwork is nice too. If you want a nice, easy introduction to Shakespeare's work for a young adult, then this book is a great place to start.

To be able to write the gist of Shakespeare's plays so concisely and clearly takes a genius. Leon has managed so masterfully to embed certain lines from Shakespeare's original text within the flow of his own prose. Although much shorter than the original Shakespearean texts, you still get the full story through the author's cleverness in picking the salient points and making a coherent whole from it. Suitable for older children and adults alike for grasping the essential story of each play.

My 8 year old is studying the Tudors at school. I bought him this book on the strength of the reviews and description. He loves it! To give you some idea as to the difficulty level - his reading and vocabulary is 18 months ahead for his age and he finds this work a bit challenging and uses it for guided readings. He does need some help but is not put off as he is finding the content interesting. Great introduction to Shakespeare.

The book is much as I expected. I bought it for an 8 year old. She might struggle a bit with it at the moment as it is of a high standard, but I think will be of much use to her as she gets older.

A wonderful writer bringing the best stories to a new audience. I loved this as a child, great fun seeing the next gen drinking up every word and picture.

Can't replace the original and isn't meant to. But gives a short story overview whilst capturing something of the style and prose. Easy to read and very well thought out.

Looking forward to reading these to my grandsons, condition was very good.
