Must buy! Easy to use, promotes technology, culture, history , literacy and so much more!
Name of Product: Shifu OrbootAge Recommendation: 4+Function: We found the product easy to set up, all we had to do was open the box and download the app. A big positive was not having to add any batteries and then having to replace them regularly. This meant as long as the tablet was charged the product was always ready to go, which is what you want it to do. Its very engaging and exciting with lots to learn and do, we especially loved the quizzes as it meant children weren’t just passively using the product, they were being challenged and asked questions about what they had learnt. I also love the booklet it comes with as it provides a simple guide with simple steps and pictures to follow.Design: The design is simple, colourful, bright and its full of surprises. It looks like a regular globe, initially I thought the globe should have additional features and buttons etc however, now having used the product for a few weeks in my own classroom and across my entire phase ( 3 classes) and during EYFS (Preschool) Hub meetings I have changed my mind. Having a simple design means we can use it like a regular globe without the app. It also means we don’t have to charge the product, replace any batteries, worry something will break or constantly have to show children what each button or feature does. It’s less likely to get damaged or broken meaning its long wearing which is needed for children. The passport and stickers also helps children identify names and flags of countries.App: The app had an easy to use interface, it was easy to download and just go. Children were also able to quickly learn how to use the product and the app together. The age recommendation is accurate as the classes I used it with were ages 4-5. I liked that the children didn’t have to read the information but it was read to them, this makes the product appeal to different abilities and needs. Those who can read are able to but it also supports learners who cannot read. Children found the 3-D images amazing and were in complete awe, they thought it was magic! I liked how you had to enter name/age which I think meant it tailored it to the age range and even ability range. It was exciting for children to complete different quests and be awarded coins and jewels, the app meant I could have personalised users for all the children in the class meaning each child had a personalised learning experience to their own needs and abilities.Curriculum specific: I found that the globe itself and its features and functions fit in perfectly with the U.K EYFS curriculum, and the new curriculum which will be implemented across all schools in England, Wales and Scotland in September 2020. It promotes S.T.E.M from a very young age, it links into ICT, communities, the world, history, all of which are key parts of the EYFS curriculum in the U.K. as the importance of S.T.E.M is developing across all school ages I feel this product will not only work in EYFS classrooms (preschool) but also all primary classrooms too.Home or schools it’s a must buy!

Fantastic educational toy
I am so impressed with the quality of this educational toy and how detailed it is. Once you download the app, the globe comes to life and the 4D experience begins. There are 6 categories to explore: Animals, monuments, cuisines, inventions, maps and cultures. It really is a dynamic toy; very educational in a really fun way!My son was confident using the globe and app to explore on his own and we love using it together! It really develops a sense of awe and wonder about the World which is wonderful to see! I feel that with the Orboot globe, I can help build his knowledge of the World in a fun, visual way!The app is jam packed with information and exciting things to learn about! The quiz and mysteries sections are a great way to reinforce the learning! You also get a passport, stamp and sticker book to keep track of your travels. It really is a hands on experience, highly recommended!

Wonderful educational globe, but need to be updated
Amazing toy, my 4 years old son loves exploring countries, culture and animals. It was a wonderful Christmas gift !He loves the mysteries, the app can be used without the globe as well. But a few things that should be updated.First of all, Eritrea is not on the Globe. This country is independent since 1991 and can be found on every globe. It is rich in culture and cuisine. And the next thing that should be updated is, that the current King of the UK is King Charles. The app still says that Queen Elizabeth is the Queen.

Learning while playing!
My 4 years old has really enjoyed playing with the globe. She absolutely loves passport and stickers that come with the globe! She "visits" a place on the globe and puts a sticker on the passport to show that she has been there! The globe comes to life through the accompanying augmented reality app! She is very excited to learn what animals eat, about various dances, cultures, and landmarks . Every day at least for some time it keeps her busy and entertained. 3D augmented reality renditions on globe and accompanying music make the learning very engaging! She is much smarter and much more knowledgeable thanks to Shifu Orboot!Even my 2 years old has been jumping with joy around the globe and the app. He is even trying to say a few words he picks up from the app.

This is OK if you are struggling for ideas
First off the bat, this thing doesn't work well on the Kids fire tablet. The camera is not good enough and it won't recognise the patterns, ie it doesn't work.I have tried it on several phones and it works OK but the text is quite hard to read and cannot be adjusted for some inexplicable reason. You cannot change the aspect to vertical either which is a big oversight in my opinion. The AR effect is decent enough but it's definitely jittery and scanning the globe is fairly reliable with a good camera. It hasn't held my 5 year olds interest for very long if I'm honest probably because he prefers to use the tablet and the phone is awkward for him to hold without covering the camera lens with his finger. If you have an Ipad you will likely get the best experience with this or any other high quality tablet. If you have a cheap tablet or a phone expect average to poor results.

Great educational toy
Great educational toy! The globe comes with a passport and stamp so kids can log what countries they have 'visited' along the way, as well as a sticker book with all the countries flags - which my boys loved! My 5 year old has been loving this and getting to learn about different countries, what animals they have, famous landmarks and even what foods they eat, and it's all brought to life through an app that he uses on his ipad. Even my 3 year old loved this, the fact he could point the camera over a country and see an animal come to life on the globe and then try and it feed it some food was just amazing. This is not just a fun toy but a great learning opportunity that even us parents loved using. Also it looks great sitting in their room and we have had lots of compliments about it.
