Great for kids, but not as polished as expected
We purchased this rock tumbler for our daughter to use with the gemstones she mined on vacation last year. My husband followed the instructions. She was very excited to watch the process over the time period suggested. I am giving it 4 starts because the rocks did not come out quite as polished and smooth as I was expecting, but we are overall satisfied.

It arrived in good condition. It was exactly what I expected. It had some of the stuff it said it was missing in it's description. I was pleased with my purchase.

Tumbler
I bought this for my boyfriend for father's day '10. It worked through the first batch of rocks that we did together. I bought him the refills for christmas. Few months later, we tried to do another batch of rocks and in the second stage, the fine grit stage, the tumbler leaked and stopped working. He tried to see what was wrong with it and try and fix it but he couldn't. It's not worth the price.

Rock tumbler
This product works well, however, it is loud and not well muffled even in the case. The rocks actually looked better before using step 4 polishing powder. But even my (football playing) boys loved making the jewelry!

rock tumbler
This is an extremely effective polisher; there was a noticable difference after the first step. The only issue I have noticed so far is that it is very noisy. I had to wrap it in fabric put it in a box and cover with a blanket to make tolerable. If you have a garage put it in there!

Works well
Works well, but could be made of sturdier plastic. Also it is very loud. If it leaks, just make sure the rubber washer is clear of grit.

fun but difficult
It is a fun project for any kid out there or adult for that matter. It is very loud and ours would only run for about 5 minutes at a time before it stopped and we had to readjust the belt. It would go for another 5 and then repeat.

Flip the band and it works as it should.
It's a toy, but it does what it's supposed to do after you flip the band around. It should be obvious, but I guess not from all the negative reviews.

One Time Use.
Tumbled our first set of stones and they turned out great. Very noisy though. But the refill kit and started a second set and only got to second step when we found that the rocks were wrecking the inside and was creating holes in the drum. Not impressed at all.

Works great!
I bougt this mainly to make 'sea glass', but I am also enjoying polishing the rocks that were included. My only complaint is that it comes with only enough grit to tumble and finish one batch of stones/glass. I hope I am not going to have a hard time finding (or have to spend a whole lot of money on) refills.

I bought this for my daughter last Christmas. It is extremely noisy. Even in the basement we could hear it upstairs. seeing that the polishing has to go on for days-weeks the noise becomes unbearable. After just one complete run we can see that the drum is wearing thin and I am not sure it will survive another batch. Due to the amount of time it take to polish the stones the WOW effect wears down rapidly and it makes this toy one of those that ends up in a box in the basement. I expected more.

A one time use machine.
You will only be able to use this once. The rocks will wear holes right through the tumbler. Donβt waste your money and patience. It will only lead to a big mess of water mixed with the sand, everywhere.

Five Stars
Works well, takes a long time but the results are worth it.
