Good mat and nicely large.
Needed a relatively large ESD work mat for my electronics lab but not so big it covers the whole work bench. This one is just the right size so I can use it at the soldering station while stuffing circuit boards, and move it to my computer desk while programming the boards. Keeps me from zapping the boards and from scratching up my desk top while programming and testing the boards with my PC. One thing I would like better is to have the snap-on connection for the grounding strap at the upper left corner of the mat. Most people are right handed, as am I, so my soldering station is at the right side of the mat. So I have to turn the mat 180 and put the ground snap-on at the lower left to put it on my left wrist and be out of the way of the soldering station. Not very convenient that way, but not enough of a nuisance to knock any stars off. One suggestion to anyone purchasing this. It comes rolled up really tight and wants to curl up on you. I had to flip it upside down and use my hot air gun at 900 degrees to warm it up and get the curl out of it. I do have to say it really resists the heat. Of course, the hot air gun is constantly moving along in a circular motion, but this mat takes it in stride while it does help take the curl out of it.

Great ESD Mat
Nice thick ESD mat. Solid wrist strap snap. CAUTION: This mat comes rolled and will be lumpy when you unpack it. Take a hair dryer on low and gently heat the mat to soften it up and allow it to relax.

Good quality, wrist strap difficult to use
Product does as expected. Only issue I have is that wrist strap uses velcro style closure with no elastic so you need to undo the wrist strap and need to try to use one hand to feed the strap through the buckle device and tighten it. I have a second unit that has an elastic wrist strap that is much easier to use but alas it was not available when I went to buy this second one.

Good professional grade electronics anti-static mat!
A couple of things to address. First, if you need instructions on using an anti-static mat, you may be in over your head. Anti-static mats are designed to equalize the voltage potential between the equipment being worked on and you. Static electricity can kill sensitive electronics. When working on a computer, I usually plug the computer into a power outlet, but leave the power supply switched off. This connects the ground in the wall outlet to the chassis of the computer. Then you attach the wire from the anti-static mat to the chassis of the computer, (a jumper wire is fine as long as it is firmly attached and will not come off). Finally, place the anti-static wrist strap onto the wrist of your choice, and plug the wrist strap to the anti-static mat. Congratulations, you are now part of the computer for the duration of the work. DO NOT remove the wrist strap for any reason until the repair or upgrade is complete, and the computer/equipment is fully re-assembled and no more work is being performed inside the equipment. Next, for those who feel the grounding jack is on the wrong side of the mat, that's an easy fix. The grounding lug simply snaps off the mat, and the snap in the mat is screwed through the mat to the brass mounting washer. Unsnap the grounding lug, and use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the snap from the mat. (See accompanying photos). Next, punch a new hole in the side of the mat you want the grounding lug to be on, (I used a rotary leather punch), and screw the snap into the new hole. Then snap the grounding lug back onto the snap, ground the mat, and you're ready to go. If you punch hole in all four corners of the mat, you can move the grounding lug to any one punched hole, depending on the repair/upgrade you are doing. This is a professional grade anti-static mat, (my opinion from years as a digital electronics bench technician), designed to be placed on a work bench as a permanent placement, rather than rolled up and stored when not in use. It really doesn't like to rolled up, but laying it out in the sun will flatten it out fairly quickly. It's a good size for the average work bench, and, frankly, a very good price for the quality of mat you get. If computer upgrades/repairs are part of your skill set, this is the anti-static mat you want.

It does the job, it's cheap, and it's durable.
I build my own computers at home, and I use this mat to work on. I bought a wrist strap to go with it. I attach the grounding lead to the middle screw of a wall receptacle. I have tested this set up with an ohm meter and measured it to ground, I think I got 1M-ohm which I think is the correct measurement for grounding set up meant to dissipate static.

Very disturbing odor
I received this mat yesterday. When I opened the package I noticed a strong foul odor. Since the mat contains various plastic components I assumed, (hoped) the odor would go away. Day 2 they are still there. Not as strong but still somewhat nauseating. Can't say much about function since I don't care to stay near the mat. The mat may be going back.

No instructions!!!
This may very well be a great product but it literally came with no instructions and I have no idea how to use. I bought this on recommendation while replacing an interior board in a VR controller and thought I bought the one they suggested but the pieces didn’t match what the person recommending was using. Phoned my dad and brother as they have experience using tools to assist with being grounded for computer/other similar electronic repair and also tried a few Google searches but nothing really helped me make sense of how to use what. So using the general advise found, I did what I thought was appropriate and I can’t say I did it right but luckily nothing was fried in the process. Although the VR attempted repair wasnt successful I’m not blaming the grounding for that. Ended up just buying a new controller. Will circle back and attempt to understand this at some point again.
