ASHATA Blu-ray Disk DVD Drive for PS4 Slim, Game Console Replacement Internal Optical Drive Portable Blu-Ray DVD Disk Drive for PS4 Slim Game Console

Had to ship off my ps4 to be fixed by a company. Tried to install this drive and it shorted the whole system. Disappointed. I am an IT professional.

The install was pretty simple after my old disk reader broke. Took me less than 30 minutes to install, and it reads the disks perfectly fine! I definitely recommend it to anyone that needs a value replacement.

The media could not be loaded.  Waste of time. 1. Drive was DOA won't even spin up. 2. The wide flat data ribbon cable that has to move back and forth with the head of the laser assembly is too short and would have caused the unit not to work anyway even if it hadn't arrived DOA. 3. The "Quality Assurance" sticker was carefully broken suggesting that this unit was possibly already sold and returned and the person that returned it perhaps took their dead motor/laser assembly and swapped it into this one and then this company just turned around and mailed it to me.

My husband and I spent an hour to disassemble our slim PS4 to replace the malfunctioning disc drive last night - there were multiple layers of parts and tons of screws to be taken care of. We proceeded to the step of putting this new disc drive and then noticed that the widest pink cable on the drive is way shorter to reach to the connector (Literally there is no way to connect the pink cable to the connector). We should have compared the current drive and this new one before starting the time consuming disassembling/assembling job. I learned a lesson that I should not buy a product from Amazon with no review and would like to share my experience with any others who are interested in purchasing this product for their slim PS4. I have no idea if the seller is the manufacturer or merchandiser of this disc drive, but they could have tested or even looked at the product closely before shipping it out to end users.
