A fun box set filled with Dalida's non-French language releases. A little muddled in places with French releases mixed in with mainly non-French versions. Ten CDs are in ten cardboard envelopes with glamorous pictures of Dalida on one side and the names of the songs in very small (and slightly difficult to read) text on the other side. Some of Dalida's greatest hits are repeated on the various CDs but as an Italian/German/English/etc variant which makes the release of these versions important for completists of her oeuvre which were excluded from the two box sets (Les Années Barclay and Les Années Orlando) and the larger release which included all of her studio albums (Les diamants sont éternels) but limited to just her French language releases.The booklet included with the box is a significantly smaller and somewhat abbreviated version of exactly the same book included with the box set "Les diamants sont éternels" which makes it rather less than exclusive to the release.The CDs are nicely remastered and make good fun and easy listening. It is also interesting to hear different versions of classic songs which were covered by Dalida - for example hearing songs like Bang Bang and These Boots Were Made for Walking (in Italian), or Dalida's own songs like Il venait d'air 18 ans or Gigi l'amoroso in German, English or Japanese (!!)Inexpensive and nicely packaged, a worthy release of a justifiably famous and celebrated diva of the French pop scene of over 3 decades.

Très joli coffret, versions surprenantes et inconnues en France. Très agréable à écouter, on a l'impression d'entendre une nouvelle chanteuse et pourtant. On se rappelle d'un coup dans ces versions de son éclectisme et de la capacité émotionnelle de sa voix, même en allemand, ce qui n'est pas gagné d'avance, la langue étant moins chaude que l'italien ou l'espagnol. Les artistes actuels n'enregistent plus dans une langue autre que leur langue maternelle, dommage, cela donne un autre éclairage de leur talent. Après, il faut savoir le faire ... Dalida elle y excelle ! Coffret impératif pour les fans.

Ich bin über diese 10 CDs sehr glücklich.Dalida gehörte irgendwie auch zu meiner Kindheit, denn zwischen 1968 und 1986 hatte sie ihre große Zeit als Sängerin.So, wie sie hier auf dem Cover abgebildet ist, hatte ich sie auch in Erinnerung. Pompös, glitzernde Roben.Die CD-Box birgt für mich die eine oder andere Überraschung. Ich habe sie noch nicht alle durch, bin aber schon begeistert, es ist eine wahre Fundgrube. Das Konzept, diese Edition in Sprachen zu unterteilen, finde ich schlicht genial.Dazu kommt die Entdeckung, dass sie sich selbst in Sprachen, die nicht direkt zu ihrem Erbe gehören, gut macht und nicht peinlich ist.Wo ein Julio Iglesias in Deutsch bestenfalls putzig ist, bin ich bei ihr hingerissen. Es gibt Sänger, die versuchen sich in einer Sprache, weil sie in jenem Land auch Fans haben. Das Ergebnis finde ich manchmal sehr enttäuschend.Bisher gehören die auf Arabisch gesungenen Lieder ( mit Ausnahmen ) zu meinen Favoriten, aber auch die CD in Englisch überzeugt.Da habe ich schon ein paar Lieblinge wie "Let Me Dance Tonight", "Born To Sing".Aber wie kommt bitte das französische "Paroles, Paroles" mit Alain Delon auf die spanische CD ?Überraschungen gibt es auf jeden Fall, zum Beispiel das englisch gesungene Kalimba De Luna".Fazit:Dennoch gelungen. Eine hochwertige Box, die CDs kriegt man zwar sehr umständlich aus ihrer Hülle raus, irgendwann aber hat man den Dreh raus. Ich werden wochenlang damit zu tun haben, mir Dalida's Werk zu erarbeiten. Was für eine tolle Frau, und was für ein Sprachentalent.Der Preis geht durchaus in Ordnung, für dieses tolle Angebot an Songs eher noch günstig zu nennen.
