Smart and easy to set up
The ring pet tag exceeded my expectations. I have two of them for each pup. The metal feels solid and durable, yet its size is lightweight enough that my dog barely notices it. The engraving is crisp and easy to read, even from a short distance. I love how you are able to include medical information on your pet's profile through the ring app, so if your pet is found they are able to have any medical needs cared for while they are away. The finish has held up well to daily wear, including walks in dirt and rain, without showing scratches or tarnishing. Overall, this is a high-quality, functional, and stylish pet tag that’s perfect for everyday use. I highly recommend!

Great little item
I have the complete ring set up alarm and cameras. This is the first time I thought about using the Pet IDs. It came with a camera that I bought pretty simple to set up. I like now that people in the neighborhood could scan it and get information about the dog if he ever gets out

Great for our dog
This is lightweight and perfect! So easy to link to your Ring account and it lets me know if anyone scans the tag and right where they are! Hope we never need it, but glad for the peace of mind.

Sturdy & Stylish, While Providing Peace of Mind to Pet Owners
This ring pet tag exceeded my expectations. The metal feels solid and durable, yet it’s lightweight enough that my dog barely notices it. The engraving is crisp and easy to read, even from a short distance, which gives me peace of mind in case my dog ever gets out. I love the simple ring design—it slides easily onto collars or harnesses without fiddling with tiny key rings, and it stays securely in place. The finish has held up well to daily wear, including walks in dirt and rain, without showing scratches or tarnishing. I also love how easy the tag is to scan and the peace of mind I experience knowing that if my indoor cats wander outside or if my dog strays from home that their finder will have an easy and reliable way to contact me. In addition, I love how you are able to include medical information on your pets profile through the ring app, so if your pet is found they are able to have any medical needs cared for while they are away. Overall, this is a high-quality, functional, and stylish pet tag that’s perfect for everyday use. It’s practical, easy to attach, and looks great on any collar—highly recommend!

Lacking Durability
It works, but durability isn't great, requiring a replacement in less than a year. It's aluminum, and seems to get scratched up easily (there goes the QR code), no official tag protector, as well as getting deformed by my dog's activities? It looks like a odd shaped avocado. When I did get the replacement and set it up, realized Ring developed this feature as a one pet, one tag, one situation, world. Almost like the team did the bare minimum without consideration for use cases. Those of us who have active dogs with multiple sets of gear, you can't have a tag on each collar and harness linked to your pet unless you create multiple duplicate pet profiles. That's like having to setup a new home for each ring camera or be limited to just one camera. As far as I know they haven't made any significant improvements to the pet tag despite complaints and suggestions. Feels like Google when they buy out a company, bare minimum to add a new product to compete, milk the profits, barely improve on it.

It works
Easy to setup. The QR code is NOW protected with a clear plastic cover to prevent fading. Works great

Great concept, interactions with Ring support were amazing!
UPDATED REVIEW (about 1 week after orig 1-star review) Overall, tag is great in concept and execution in real life scenario is handled very well. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because of my interactions with Ring after I couldn’t get the product to “work” during setup - after calling tech support and leaving 1-star review, Jess from Ring contacted me & left a message on how to get in touch with her. I sent some more info on the problem I was running into as well as a feature enhancement suggestion based on my recent experience (suggestion utilizes the gps coordinates of the scanning phone, preserving the finder’s anonymity while giving the pet owner some info about where the pet is). When Jess and I connected she explained (very politely) that based on privacy handling, the phone couldn’t technically call itself (dial your own number sometime, I dare you!). She also suggested testing from a different phone if I wanted to continue testing. The coolest part was she told me that my suggestion was a great idea and they were going to look at including it in the next release! What I loved about this interaction was- - The personal, direct support I got from Jess on behalf of Ring - The handing of how my issue was solved/explained - The handling of my feedback made me feel like Ring really cares about this product and wants it to be great Because the tag works AND my interactions with Ring (thanks again to Jess and also Alexis) I’ve got my pets tagged, I’m giving them as Xmas gifts, and I’m recommending them as great peace of mind insurance to anyone who’ll listen. The product only has one minor flaw (see orig review below) - the whole thing doesn’t work if you are testing it with the phone you used to set it up. Btw that’s not really the flaw, I can understand why they didn’t put in extra work on the corner case that the owner is trying to contact themselves to test the product. The flaw is that they don’t tell you anywhere that it won’t work with the same phone (and I’m not the only person that would want to test the tag). As long as that’s communicated during setup, I’m 1,000% in love with this product! ORIG REVIEW: Along with other reviewers, I agree that initial setup wasn’t super intuitive for the pet tags. You can create a pet profile independent of the tag, the tag setup is just associating the pet profile to the specific QR code. PROBLEM IS when I scan the QR code (like the dog was found by someone else): 1. the owner’s phone gets notified correctly that someone scanned the tag. 2. As the tag scanner, it tells me I can contact the owner via phone or sms - but for some reason, the phone number it texts is NOT MINE. (Not owner) It uses a completely different phone number - diff area code for a diff state, etc. When I call the number through the QR code it’s disconnected, nothing happens when I send texts through the app. I love this idea, but right now I’ve wasted $20 on two tags that don’t contact me if my dogs are found. I called Ring support team but first tech support wasn’t familiar with the product at all because it’s still so new. They’re going to research it and get back to me (I’ll update the review accordingly) but at this point it’s looking like I’m going to need to return these for refunds because they just don’t work.
