Q: If i bought this and some aluminium rods, what else do i need to weld the aluminium panels on my landrover? do i need gas?

Sorry but if you need to ask this do not even consider trying to tig weld your panels, much harder than MIG welding an you will end up going backwards and very frustrated. If you are still determined to go ahead, then ensure you have a foot pedal, frequency adjustment up to 140 Htz, ac current up to 200 Amp, a good 16 amp plus power supply, AC balance adjustment up to +50%, some Al mig wire that you can stiffen into rods, (most tig rods are too thick for your purpose) and a large bottle of malt whisky, you will need it!

Q: In the description it notes that this welder has high frequency start but my welder doesn’t seem to arc up unless I scratch the material please help??

the high frequency start will only work if the material is clean with no oil coating if using aluminium try setting machine to flat no pulse sound stupid but it will also only high freq start on tig setting not mma setting

Q: How must a footpedal be wired to work .

you need a 3 pin female plug and a 10k potentiometer. The 10k pot has 3 connections just test which goes to which on the plug and turn the 10k pot until full range is achieved ... 0 amps 250 amps. Then weld a pedal with a spring, takes a bit of time and messing but it works.
