Works surprisingly well
I was pretty worried about this but it works great so far, it plays the included music best. It is pretty powerful and loud and creates the ozone smell but that’s typical for these. The Bluetooth works ok, it was a bit spotty at times, but most of the time it worked. If I had a bigger sound library of songs that were in the right form, that would help, but it’s super fun as is, easy to use and not much risk of getting electrocuted. Right out of the box, I put the rod in the center and plugged it in and it fired right up, instructions were a bit vague but I figured it out. The switch has multiple positions for music or just pulsing on and off. On to the actual “lightning” it looks ok, better in the dark for sure. When it’s louder the sparks go down the rod a bit instead of staying at the top but overall looks really cool. Would definitely recommend for science demonstrations or other applications, not necessarily for small spaces as it’s really loud. Overall, great product and I got it at a great price. It would be a great way to try one of these out before getting a more expensive one.

Do NOT purchase
Followed the 4 easy steps to assemble, and as soon as I plugged it in, it made an awful sound, and emitted a terrible odor. Absolutely nothing worked on it. I did connect my phone with the Bluetooth, and nothing came out of the speaker. It is cheaply made, so not surprised that nothing works. This product is laughably horrible.

Cool product - works best at night or in dark lighting
I wish it had an on/off switch vs having to plug in/out the power supply, but otherwise a nice device. Plus they give you a couple of LEDs and a metal stick which can be used to show off the lightning effect. I was going to show this to some 10 year old kids, but I think it may be more appropriate for 14+ so will hold off and play with it myself until the time is right :) The seller in my case was very easy to work with when I found the shipment delayed (by a couple of days). Couldn't ask for more from the seller. Overall very satisfied.

Turn volume all the way up for music feature
Edit* We had to make sure the volume was ALL the way up and the loud sound protection of the headphones setting on our device was off. The sparks work but the music feature does not. We followed instructions and we tried two different devices. We used the sound download thing too. The machine itself makes a loud popping noise every time it fires which is pretty obnoxious. It’s loud!

Died after a month
Update: So a month later and it just doesn't turn on at all even after letting it rest overnight. Original review: It's much much louder than I expected but it's amazing to see such a small scale and safe Tesla coil. My 6 yo loves to experiment with it undery supervision. I haven't tried the speaker part yet but it's great for a safe close up view of mini lightning. Holding the lights can get warm but in short bursts it's fine. Just be aware that it's loud so kids might need ear protection.

Suprisingly well-built
I ordered this because I had always wanted a Tesla coil, and this one fit the bill for price and small size. When I received the device, It came with a computer type external power supply. What surprised me is just how well-built this little thing is. Completely encased in clear plexiglas except for the controls and the "spire", it is quite solid. Oh, and it does what it is supposed to. One thing--I would ensure that the "spire" is removed when not using the device; it is quite sharp.

Fun but fragile
Like the larger versions of these and every other iterstion, they are neat little science toys but don't last very long. Failed mosfets, had 1 failed power brick and finally both large electrolytics let out the steam violently. They were fun up until then.

It’s extremely fragile, but good for the money and very educational.
The thing is pretty good for the money- exceeded my expectations on its ark size. However it’s pretty fragile- the power supply it came with is pretty low current and that shows when you try to push the coil to hard (the wall adapter brown-out’s) Also be careful there is zero kickback protection for the inbuilt circuitry- too much of an inductive load on the output and the switching components inside fail. This is why everyone else’s units are failing so soon (probably). Musical playback could be worked on- it ONLY plays square waves, you need to convert all audio to square waves or PWM audio before anything resembling audio starts to emerge. Also the insulation between the coil and the circuitry could be better.
