The beams are reflected by any obstructions behind the vehicle. The reflected beams are collected by the control unit to calculate the distance of the vehicle from the obstruction.When the vehicle is less than 1.5 metres from the obstruction the audible alert will emit intermittent bleeps. As the vehicle gets closer to the obstruction the frequency of the bleeps increases. At 40 centimetres from the obstruction the bleeps become a continuous tone. Also the Three distinct coloured LEDs provide visual warnings of the distance .
