Can you play with this hover ball outside on the grass? What is the best surface?

The hover soccer ball can only be used on smooth surfaces. The way it works is that a fan creates an air cushion which lifts the ball off the ground and makes it glids. With grass the surface is not smooth and so the air cusion will not be enough to lift it off the ground. Any hard surface is fine- wooden floors, low pile carpet, basements, concrete (but must be smooth- outside concrete might be too full of small rocks), tiles etc. Its mainly designed for indoor use. How long does it run on a full charge?

if you kick it hard at some one will it hurt?

The edges are soft and the ball stays close to the floor when kicked so hurting someone is unlikely with normal use. Of course, anything can be abused and if someone were to pick it up and intentionally kick it at someone's face, for example, an injury is possible. But such misuse is not due to the design of the toy and can happen with anything.
