Not what I expected
I'm giving this 3 stars because it's well written and provides a lot of academic-like info on exhibitionism, but it reads like it began as a dissertation or an in-depth magazine article and was later converted for mainstream reading. It doesn't read like a book for shy individuals looking to change their attitude and behaviors about sex. I expected a how-to text that would include background information (it does this), but also provide the reader with situational tips and examples of play, talk, etc., that they could immediately begin applying in their day-to-day life. 'How to transition from shy to un-shy.' It does offer some suggestions, albeit lightly and a little vaguely, but they are sparse and often in the form of brief personal quotes from an individual - something that can be found much easier and in greater numbers online. While it does contain info about how to work through shyness in sexuality, everything is written in paragraph form with specific subjects sometimes bleeding through to other sections of the book regardless of chapter or subheading. I couldn't open the book, go to a chapter, a subheading, and start reading about the topic at hand with much reliability. The content was often buried several paragraphs in and surrounded by anecdotal summaries. If you want success stories, inspiration for changing your attitude about sex, or concrete ideas you can take with you into the bedroom or elsewhere, this is not the book for you. If you want to read about exhibitionism and society, understand shyness and realize you're not alone, this book might be helpful. There is good content here, regardless of focus, and the author writes in a friendly, non-shaming way. Maybe I would have enjoyed this book more if I were shy. Or maybe I've read too many how-to books to switch to a 'study of' type text.

Release your inner sex goddess
This has to be the best book ever for anyone who is shy either in or out of the bedroom. Don't think that this book is only for partnered people, there are plenty of exercises on being an exhibitionist for your own private fun. And believe me when I say that when you have showed off for yourself you won't be able to wait to show off to others. This book also gave me greater appreciation for my own body. Flaws and all. Never does she say that you have to be this great beauty to be a show off.So if you are a "good girl" like me with a "bad girl" fantasy this book is the key to unlocking it.

But it is really great, patient
I took this book to a nude swinger resort and didn't read much of it because I was too busy running around naked with my friends! But it is really great, patient, thorough, friendly and encouraging tone. A great primer for those who want to learn how to talk dirty, explore their sexuality, and embrace their inner exhibitionist. The author shares her own personal journey and lots of great tips. Take it at your own pace and go for it! Carol Queen is a pioneer and role model!

Fantastic Book
If you are the least bit shy regarding your sexuality then this is the book for you! I have seen an enormous increase in my own self confidence (so has my husband!) She breaks down barriers in your shyness and gives you options on how to break out of that mold with ideas, strategies, and examples. I like the way she gives you several options of an exercise. There were some I didn't feel comfortable with but she gave variations so that you can work with it. I definately recommend this to anyone who wants to develop sexual self confidence.

clarify the concept of sexual objectification.
I am a feminist man. But I could never understand why feminists have such a horror of sexual objectification. I always dreamt of being considereda sex object by females. Carol Queen is the first author who dared and succeeded to clarify (and dispel the stigma) of this concept.

I was a bit disapointed with this book. I'm ...
I was a bit disapointed with this book. I'm an avid reader and normally finish a book in a day or two, but this one is a little hard to get into. From the description, I was expecting something more lively and exciting. I still haven't finished it and am not sure I will.

Helpful for Hermits
This book gave me a lot to think about when it came to being more comfortable expressing my sexuality. It discussed safe ways of doing so, while still being able to enjoy the activity. For anyone who's shy, and willing to try the exercises, I highly recommend it.

but did have some good advice and interesting people-stories
It seemed to get a little repetitive, but did have some good advice and interesting people-stories. Unfortunately, the resource website that it repeatedly mentions does not currently exist. :(

Very informative and an easy read
Absolutely great book! It is a touch outdated with certain terms used or resources given, but the baseline information is great for anyone looking for clarification and explanation on erotic (vs clinical) exhibitionism. This book has actually really opened my eyes to just how much we as a whole, and I personally, have generalized and assumed things about various kinks, and has prompted me to get more books and do more research on other kinks so I can be better informed.

Good stuff
A bit dated in places, but useful and interesting. The slang in the back pages made me laugh, and the author is very witty and clever. I enjoyed it, but it's possibly a "one time only" kind of read.

Really dated now sadly
Could not find any relevance to modern life unfortunately.
