Journey back to Camp Crystal Lake and re-experience the screams, the terror, and the blood of the screen’s unstoppable bad guy, Jason Voorhees, and his horrifying legacy in this killer collection of eight Friday the 13th movies! Review: All discs played - The movies arrived on time without any loose discs or case damage. There are no scratches and all "6" discs played without complication on my Sony 4k player. The picture quality is fine considering the age of the movies. The image is clear and much improved over dvd. Not perfection but good. Being classic slasher films from my teenage years, a perfect picture is not what I want. A little grit and grain adds to the experience. Overall, a perfect upgrade to the 8 disc dvd set I have had for years. If you are a fan of the movies then this is a worthwhile investment. Review: Incredible Blu Ray Box Set! - So in the age of digital and streaming, is there any reason to keep buying physical media? Judging from this great box set - absolutely! Here's why: 1) The picture quality is fantastic. I've never seen these movies look so good. Even the ones that are on two to a disc (I think V and VI split a disc, and VII and VIII share a disc too) - everything looks crystal clear. 2) Tons of extras - deleted scenes, outtakes, making-ofs, trailers, retrospectives, audio commentaries - each disc has everything a Friday the 13th fan could want. Even the least respected entries in the series gets a ton of extras. 3) Part 3 comes in 3D! Sure, it's not typical 3D Blu Ray, and you'll have to procure some old-school cardboard 3D glasses from somewhere else (I think I used my pair from the DVD of Spy Kids 3D or Sharkboy and Lavagirl or something), but it's great to have that option or just switch to 2D if you want. I think this is the same disc that you get when you buy Part 3 on its own, and it costs about the same too. 4) The packaging is nice and compact and doesn't take up a huge amount of room - it's just a little bit thicker than a typical case. All in all, this is a must-buy if you even think you'll like these movies. Highly recommended!

Don't Hesitate To Buy This Set!!
The Blu-Ray quality on this set is fantastic! I have never seen these films look better, and I have owned them on VHS and DVD. The audio is good on all 8 films, all have a lot of bonus features as well. The picture quality on each film is really pristine for their age! Part 3 is both the 3D version and the 2D version. This set does not come with 3D glasses though. I have two pair of the Friday The 13th 3D glasses that came with the DVD release a few years back, so it was fun to actually watch Part 3 in 3D again, because I haven't seen it in 3D in a longtime. The price of this set is more than reasonable, so if you're looking to upgrade your DVD's for Parts 1-8, you can't go wrong with this set!

A perfectly fine collection of the original Paramount films... and now OOP.
This review is for the 8 film blu-ray box set that was released in February 2018. A few days ago, it was revealed that Victor Miller had won his lawsuit against Sean Cunningham regarding ownership of the original "Friday the 13th". The TLDR version is that Miller has won the rights to the original script and the characters therein. This means he gets ownership of Crystal Lake, Mrs. Voorhees, young Jason, and all the rest of those character. Meanwhile, Cunningham retains the rights to the hockey masked killer Jason Voorhees, and the name "Friday the 13th" (Miller's original title for the script was Long Night at Camp Blood). I still don't quite know what this means for distribution of the old films -- the legalese is above my head -- but as soon as I read this article, I said to myself, "I'd better go pick up that most recent blu-ray box set before it goes out of print and gets obnoxiously expensive." I'm glad I did. On October 1st, I ordered this set for $37. By the 4th of October, there was only one copy left on Amazon and it was listed for $200. As of today, it is now listed as "Currently Unavailable". Apparently, I wasn't the only person with the idea that I should jump on the thing before the lawsuit potentially makes the films difficult to collect together. If you haven't managed to nab it, I'd suggest grabbing the DVD equivalent -- which is still around $13 -- just to be on the safe side. Who knows if and when another Paramount set will be released. In terms of content: these blu-rays are basically identical to the previous blu-ray set (which is also now out of print), with the exception of the transfer of Jason Lives, which has been reverted to be closer to the original color palette (the blu-ray on the last box set was color timed incorrectly, and looked way more orange/green than the original blue hues the film was known for). All of the special features from previous releases are retained. The only major difference is that the last four movies are cramped onto dual disks, and the New Line films are not included in the collection. The picture quality is better than it has any right to be, and Friday the 13th part III especially looks about as good as it probably ever will (being shot in 3D really did kill finer detail in the image quality. JAWS 3D suffers the same fate). A set of this nature will never be a five star affair without the inclusion of significant deleted material -- an uncut version of Friday 7 will never happen, but one can dream -- but it does what it needs to do. It collects the Paramount films in a slim, easy package. It's perfect Halloween viewing fodder. If you can get it for a reasonable price, do.

Great set
Having the dvds of the whole series was glad to finally get a blu ray set as the first two are really lackluster, 2 channel audio, grainy picture etc. the blu ray remaster is great. Getting a copy of 3 in both formats, 3D and 2D was great. It’s been years since I saw it in3D and while it sank to one of the worst on rewatches (due to the 3D effects being obvious and cheesy) back in 3D they actually look great and it’s a strong entry again. You’ll need 3D glasses as none come with the set, you can find legit Friday the 13th part 3 glasses here on amazon or get a more substantial plastic pair as the original glasses are cardboard. Nice to include in your set but I’d rather watch using a plastic pair that feel like sunglasses. Each disk is loaded with extras, watching them all in each disk usually took longer than watching the movie they came with. As already stated, it’s only parts 1-8, with new line holding the license to 9, Jason X, Freddy vs Jason and the 2009 reboot, and finding those on blu ray is a bear, but I did a marathon of the entire series when I got this set and the dvd copies of the ones not included looked fine. The biggest gripe was they didn’t have the extras this great set had so don’t feel bad about completing the set with dvds til they wise up and release a new line box set with the missing blu rays. And it wouldn’t be a complete review without complaining about the lame box art.. they couldn’t use a screengrab? Or at least try to make an accurate pic? The mask on this cover has never been used. The chevrons on the cheeks are from part 5, where they were blue and the forehead chevron is the part 3 version plus their version just looks skinny. Small gripe, but before it’s done I’ll design my own slipcover for it...

Worth the price.
It is a good version of the movies. A great version of the remastered movies.

Packaging is just fine.
We all know how awesome the Friday the 13th series is and how awesome the bonus content of these new Deluxe Edition versions is also so I won't talk about that. I just wanted to mention (for anyone doubtful about buying this due to the packaging issue mentioned in some reviews) that I had no issue with the packaging at all. Mine traveled half way round the world so there would have been some movement inside the box and all the discs are perfect. I've worked with DVD's for 15 odd years and I can see no real problem with the packaging at all. It's possible that Paramount have addressed the issue and changed it as I can't see how the soft, smooth cardboard could scratch the DVD's (it's no different to Warner's Friends Collection Box and the same as Fox's Simpsons Seasons). It's also possible that (for some customers) the DVD's were scratched before they were even put in the packaging (seen this plenty of times) and Amazon just happened to get a/the bad batch. I'm not a fan of digipacks, foldouts or DVD collections that function like books but I love this. Short version: This collection is freaking awesome. Buy it. Buy it NOW!

Amazing Classics
An 8 movie collection of some of my favorite classics all for the cheap price of €34 is a steal especially since they’re all the blu ray releases. delivery was also super quick and easy.

Brilliant box set
Really good, When horror films actually were entertaining and exciting to watch, rather than relying on cgi crap.
