Stanley 6MR77 MR77 Swivel Head Riveter

In a year in which I bent & snapped three flimsier pop riveters, I thought I'd stop cheaping out & get a more solid one.Night & day.Very robust 'proper' old-fashioned tool. None of that new-fangled weakness in some of the newer Stanley stuff.The rotating head a revelation too, leading to a much-reduced level of swearing.(You might want to put a drop of oil in the release end of the thing, or you might not. I did, and it seemed to ease the release of pins.)

Really happy with the gun works well at all angles, would suggest using an open end spanner though for changing the fittings as the spanner provided is a bit fiddly other that that great product.

Work well with option of several angles to help get in those difficult places.

The rotating head is good and usefull.Pity that the design is not very well thought through. One needs extremely large hands to accommodate the long stroke action required to press it. It is virtually impossible to operate this with one hand.A shorter grab action of the rivet shaft would allow for much easier use.Personally I would not recommend this tool. The amount of rework I had to do due rivets going bad as a direct result of having to adjust my grip was very frustrating and time consuming.

Well made tool.Have used it with 5mm stainless steel rivets and it coped ok.I struggled to pop them towards the end of the job (200 rivits over two days).Longer handles would be an improvment,thinking of getting some tube to extend the handles.Swivel head very useful.VERY GOOD TOOL.GOOD BUY

I have needed a new rivet tool for years now. The one I had got to the point where I had to practically disassemble it to remove the shank each time I installed a rivet. But it's just one of those things you don't use that often so I kept telling myself I would probably not need it again in my lifetime. Well I am 65 and have said that at least 10 times in the last few years so...well, here I am, finally, with a new rivet toolIt was not an easy selection either since there are so many and none made in the USA - well that I could find anyway, and the ones listed all had mixed reviews. So it felt like a bit of a risk no matter which one I chose. I tried to stay away from any that made a point of mentioning the number of rivets you got with the tool or a carrying case. Those two factors are not important as I need a tool not rivets and certainly not a case. Not sure why one would want a case for a hand tool.Anyway, I have always had pretty good luck with Stanley tools so in the end that was the way I went and based on the quality of the tool, I feel like I made the right choice. It is very solidly made and has a good heft to it. I did not particularly care if it had a rotating head, but since I have had a chance to test it, I like that feature a lot. The size of the tool is substantial, much larger than my old one, so it has a pretty wide grip. It is not an issue for me since I have big hands, but it might make it difficult for someone with smaller hands to use with just one hand. However, if you are installing large rivets you will appreciate the leverage you can get from the longer length of the handles.Based on the quality of the tool the price is right and I would recommend it over any of the "kits" available. In my opinion, if you need both a tool and rivets, buy this tool and pick up some rivets separately - it is that well made. I am confident this tool will be the last one I need to buy and can recommend it without hesitation.

so wie meine Vor-Rezessionisten auch, hatte ich etliche Nietzangen in der Hand.Auch ich finde, das sie super verarbeitet ist, präzise arbeitet und jeden Cent wert ist.Ebenso finde ich lediglich den Verschlussbügel "ungünstig": ist aber nur eingehängt und leicht zu entfernen (wen dieser stört).Bei mir steckt die Zange eigentlich immer seitlich in der Werkzeugtasche - da stört es nicht, wenn der Verschlussbügel fehlt.Der Schlüssel zum wechseln der Einsätze ist - wie bei allen anderen Nietzangen (Herstellern) auch - eher für den "Notfall: ja - man kann die Einsätze damit wechseln. Schneller ist man allerdings, wenn man eine Ratsche mit 10er Nuss zu Hand nimmt. Denn der Schlüssel rutscht immer über den schmalen Rand und ... naja: ist einfach unpraktisch.Auch der stufenlos drehbare Kopf funktioniert in jeder Lage. Es muss einem aber klar sein, das dadurch die Zange allgemein etwas größer und schwerer (769gr.) ausfällt, als eine Zange ohne drehbaren Kopf.Nieten mit 3mm Stift lassen sich problemlos verarbeiten (z.B.: A6x12mm). Größere Nieten sind ohnehin eher etwas für maschinellen Einsatz (pneumatisch, elektrisch), da man diese kaum noch von Hand ziehen kann...Preis mag teuer erscheinen: wenn ich aber denke, wie viel Zeit (und Ärger) ich mir gegenüber "Billigsdorfer-Werkzeug" erspare...Ich kann sie nur empfehlen:Preis/Leistung vollkommen OK - würde ich jederzeit wieder kaufen!
