Crazy good and an excellent value. Recommended but see connection note in review
I use a lot of electronic modules but these are "crazy" good. They work, have excellent range, smaller than you might think from the pictures (small enough to fit into an existing electric box {depending on what else is in there] to automate an existing light switch}), and an unbelievable value. However, as usual for Chinese electronic products, the engineering is excellent as is the construction quality, but the documentation is the weak spot. In particular, there is one misleading wiring aspect. The unit has a neutral line (white) for the line voltage in and a second neutral line connection for the output. Usually, if controlling a light or other line operated device, there is only on neutral wire. What they don't say is that you don't have to use the output neutral connection. You just need three wire connections: hot (black) in, hot (black) out and the line neutral (white) in. The two neutral connections (in and out) are likely just connected together inside. They also show a connection for a switch, which is good, but they don't mention that a switch is not required since there is a built-in switch on the body of the device (used for pairing as well as on/off). Of course, you will likely use the "Smart Life" app for control and/or Alexa or Google. I will also say that this device paired very quickly, faster than others (hold down the button of the device until the blue light blinks putting it into pairing mode.) It is also a real switch (likely a relay so no dimming) and I am using it to turn on/off a couple of 1000 watt motors.

Inexpensive, flashable with OpenBeken.
Inexpensive. I bought 10 of these after I figured out they can be flashed for local use without having to go through the cloud. MQTT works well after flashing. Flashable with OpenBeken - see my post on details, teardown, and settings if you want to do that. It is on elektroda.com with title :Tuya DIY Smart Switch T1-CHL AU5101XA Flashing Issues with OpenBK7238_QIO_1.18.247 Firmwareas . I also published an OpenBeken node for IBM's node-red home automation system which I uploaded to npm and the node-red Library. Inside, it has a BK7238 (T1) chip and 2M of flash memory. The same outside case is used by a lot of vendors but what's inside is often quite different vendor to vendor - with no version numbers or markings on the circuit boards. This particular circuit appears well made with decent components. Wiring is totally unlike wiring other popular home automation brand switches like ShellyR1, Shelly mini, SonoffminiR4, etc. In that the switch teriminals CANNOT be wired to either Neutral or Live wires without a loud noise and magic smoke coming out of the device. The two switch contacts S1 and S2 are "dry" and tolerate 3.3V logic level detection circuitry only. So far I have 16 of these running fine on OpenBeken and interacting with node-red home automation system.

Won't stay connected to wifi
I have a water pump in a remote location and wanted to be able to turn it on or off using the app. The first couple of weeks it worked great. Then out of the blue I needed to reset it. Ok, no big deal. Then it was several times a day. Now it only works via Bluetooth connections. I contacted the seller and after a couple of weeks I have not gotten any reply from them. Terrible product, even worse support. UPDATE: installed a Shelly 1 mini gen 4 switch and has worked perfectly since I connected it to my wifi. Spend a few extra bucks up front on the SHELLY switches and rest assured it will be working when you need it!

Important detail that is in the instructions, sort of.
These do exactly what they are supposed to do, provided you know what you're doing. Basic understanding of household wiring is of course essential. If you have a light with a standard single light switch circuit you can't wire this behind that switch. You'll pull your switch out to find a single romex in there with white on the bottom, black on top, and of course ground. There is no combination that will allow you to put this behind that switch, you'll have to go wire this into the box above the fixture. This may not be as common in newer homes, but was common in older homes like mine. If this confuses you, I suggest you either get an electrician to do it or search for a light switch circuit. Generally if there is more than one light switch on the switch panel you probably can put this behind the switch, but there isn't as much room in most switch boxes as you think and solid strand wire can be a bear to manipulate and keep in the screw clamps on these. You might also have to make some pigtails to get everything wired up right, so you'll end up adding more than just this cube in there. The other major gotcha and I should have known better since I am a networking guy is your wireless network (it sort of mentions this in the documentation). You absolutely need to and should set up a dedicated 2.4GHz SSID for these and other similar devices. I bet any of the reviews on here complaining about them showing offline after setting them up ran into the same pitfall I did. You have a wireless router that can do 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi (AC, AX, 6e doesn't matter most modern routers do both bands) and your 2.4 and 5GHz bands share an SSID, for complicated reasons these will probably drop off your network and show offline most of the time. My router and most modern routers, can do a 2.4GHz IoT SSID and your primary mixed band network, if it doesn't have that option see if your router can do a 2.4GHz only guest network. If your router has none of these options you're going to have to either replace it or install a separate Access Point (AP) to make these work properly. Assuming these continue to work as they have been they seem to be great, it gives you the option to smartify a basic light fixture without having to buy an expensive smart light switch that may not even work if your house is like mine and doesn't include neutral in the box. That and it doesn't require one of those expensive hubs just for controlling all of your smart stuff assuming you stayed in brand and that brand includes all of the various smart components you need.

A very useful well made device at a very reasonable price.
A great little device. I had to change the back box to a deeper one (45mm), but once I had done this the device fitted in easily along with the face plate connector block and associated cables (needs a N wire to work). It took a little bit of trial and error to get the first device paired, but once I had done one and learnt had to reset the device to get a slow blink the others were a doddle to install. The device was quite solid and the screws sturdy. They didn't get all chewed up when using a screwdriver, which sometimes happens with cheap goods. The connectors also took mains cable 2.5mm as well as light cable 1.5mm, which was good. I have in the past had connectors where the aperture is so small you struggle to get anything in. All in all a great bit of kit & now I can turn on all the outside lights (garage, house, pump room, flood lights etc. from my phone, wherever I may be.
